Shooting Pain in bum cheek

Hello,

I'm 18 weeks pregnant and the last few days I've had a shooting pain in 1 of my bum cheek. It comes and goes and eases off after a while but It really takes my breath away.

Do I need to be concerned? Could this be sciatica? Xx

Could be piriformis muscle or disc bulge at L5/S1.

a physio will be able to diagnose exactly what it is. Piriformis can be relatively common during pregnancy due to changes in body mechanics .

Sounds like sciatica to me. I get this every now and then and have done through both pregnancies.

Oh god, I had this in both pregnancies. Sciatica! It would come and go but always be in a shooting pain in a line

Took my breath away, hasn't been back since I gave birth. I found that if I went for a swim or did some exercise that seemed to help it

Good luck, it's no fun!

Shooting pain from the bum down through the top of the leg, if it's like an electric shock it sounds like sciatica to me.

If it’s not radiating down past the knee more than likely PGP :)
but check if you can self refer or ask for a physio referral.
im a pelvic health specialist physio so something I see day in day out x
