Big baby worry, any advice please?

Hello,

I am currently 12wks pregnant with dc4. Previous babies have been

ds1 - 7lb 6oz - 10hrs
ds2 - 7lb 13oz - 5hrs
dd - 9lb 4oz - 3hrs

I am quite worried about how big this baby will be. Dd was a planned hb which was quite straightforward apart from dp delivering her. Labour was only 3hrs from first twinge and mw arrived 5mins too late!

I have been advised to have another hb due to ever shortening labours but I don't want to find ourselves in same situation as before but with a bigger baby and potential for getting stuck etc, esp as I am only 5"1.

Do you think they would do repeated growth scans so they can accurately plot and predict this babies weight and if it looks to be even bigger then maybe induce at 38weeks?

If you have any thoughts or experience here please help! I know it's a way off yet but I'm really worried and it's all I can think about.

No advice I'm afraid but am in a similar situation: dd was 10 lbs 7 and labour was 6 hrs, delivered by ventouse as dd got a bit stuck (and I was knackered after 2 hrs pushing). I'm 12 weeks with no 2 and midwife initially suggested a hb as 2nd labour may be fast (my mothers 2nd was 90 mins). I'm not keen on the idea generally but particularly as baby no 2 is also likely to be as large and I had a bad tear last time which needed stitching.

Would like to hear if anyone managed to get an early induction (between 38 and 40 weeks) for a large baby? Am also worried about what will happen to dd if I have a fast labour as dh would take an hour and a half to get home and my parents are 2 hrs away...). Have been lying awake at night worrying about this

Wow yes I can understand why you're worried.

You could ask for a consultant obstetrician's view.
I know one lady who had big babies and her husband apparently weighted over a stone at birth!
She was huge by 4 months and the obstratrician said "you are having either induction or ceasarean at 36 weeks". He considered her to be high risk.
So ask to be referred to see what they think. Although the size of the head is supposed to be the deciding factor?????

Jaysthird just had an 11lb baby vagiinally, pretty straightforward for her. Look in birth announcements.

I know a lot of people have big babies with no problem but I think I'm just paranoid!

My ds was 10lbs 6 and took 3 hoursish start to finish - he was born 27 minutes after we arrived at the hospital, if that's any reassurance!I didn't even haev time to get the soothing music on.
