Passing stools in excruciating.i was looking at cream called germoloid
It says suitable during pregnancy, some medicines are unsafe but also states I should consult a doctor . Confused why if its safe.
Wondering does anyone have any recommendations from their gp or midwife which brand is safe to use
I'm looking one preferably with a numbing action

I used this in pregnancy and it works very quickly. Warm bath also helps. It is so painful x

it says consult a doctor because it hasn’t been rigorously tested on pregnant women but a mild, topical treatment (or suppository) will be absolutely fine! My sympathies - it’s rotten.

@Tryingtoconceivenumber2 its really awful isn't it. I lie awake some nights with the burning , pain and shooting pains . I believe I have external and internal.
I'd like to know exactly what to go and buy and not have to stand in a crowded pharmacy asking the pharmacist for advice on my piles 🙈 in front of an audience

I used the germoloids cream at the recommendation of my midwife, really did help! Feel awful for you OP it’s so painful

@ChildOfTheMoon I really feel for you. Since I've had the baby it's been much improved so at least there is that. I ordered my germaloids on Amazon x

I've ordered a tube. Shall be impatiently waiting for it to arrive. I'm only early on in my pregnancy, 9 weeks and one of the very first symptoms I experienced was a change in bowel habits. I had severe constipation and still do. I'm sure this is exaggerating the pain. Had them pretty much since first week of pregnancy. Have tried upping my fibre intake as suggested but it hasn't helped at all

Oh Op 😞that’s awful to get it so early on. It was constipation that started mine too but in the 3rd trimester. Have you spoken to gp/ midwife about the constipation? I was told to take lactulose which is safe in pregnancy and did help a bit. Similar to the other poster my piles did clear up almost instantly after pregnancy

Ah you poor thing. Possibly a bit grim but Anusol also do an ointment that comes with an applicator type thing so you can insert the cream if you feel you need it. Midwife told me this was fine to take in pregnancy.

Also make sure you drink a shit-ton of water (pun intended) and I find tropical fruit like mangoes, pineapple and kiwis helps. As do dried figs/prunes.

I didn't personally get on with lactulose so if you find the same try Movicol instead. I believe there are two versions, one of which is pregnancy safe.

Good luck.
