Re shaving, ask your midwife. The different trusts have different views on this. Mine now strongly prefers mums not to do this and to let the nurses do it as part of the surgery. It reduces infection risk :)

Totally agree with @neverwakeasleepingbaby, the painkillers is a MUST. My hospital were very reluctant to give any pain relief other than paracetamol, not sure what other hospitals offer but I’d take some just incase. I’d also pack some energy drinks like lucozade or something like that for some energy. It’s a major operation OP make sure you take it easy and good luck xx

Another vote for the Frida Mom pants! Also painkillers, peppermint tea and sliders (or similar shoes that can go on over your compression stockings).

I don't know what the type of dressing was called but my c section dressing was odd and left very sticky residue. I ended up buying these: https://www.chemist-4-u.com/zoff-adhesive-remover-wipes-20-wipes?gclid=Cj0KCQiAj_CrBhD-ARIsAIiMxT9jatPi2PzDNEjffsxuWpD6C4bNVO8jIcCyUUo9Vbz02dJ06iujldkaAmQUEALw_wcB

They really helped to remove the glue.

Apart from that, I echo the need for snacks and water. Make sure you have a bag that can fit on your table ideally and doesn't need unpacking as then you can reach everything given you can't move much initially.

Not for your hospital bag but something I wish I knew.
Shave.
EVERYTHING.
Or the nurse will do it for you.

I've been told not to do this incase it grows back badly over the scar with in growing hairs / soreness? X

A night dress, not a trouser set
Peppermint tea to help with trapped wind
Disposable underwear (I used Tenas)
Big bottle with a straw
My hospital was good and would regularly provide pain relief but suppose you could pack your own
Long charger and a portable charger
Headphones (ward can be noisy)
Mini fan (hospital was baking hot)
