Cyclogest for spotting

Hi all,
looking for a little hand hold / stories please. Back in July I had a MC, started spotting exactly at 5w and 6 days later passed the sac.
I was excited to find out that after 4 months of trying which felt like forever, we were pregnant again. Lo and behold started spotting at exactly 5w again. EPAU have prescribed progesterone pessaries and I’m still spotting only it’s harder to see as it’s mixed in with the pessary.

has anyone had experience with Cyclogest and was it successful for you? Feeling very low

Hi!

I'm on cyclogest after 2 miscarriages. I've been taking it since week 6 and I'm now week 11, so not out of the woods yet...although I have had 3 scans with heartbeats the latest at 9 weeks.

How are you getting on?

I was prescribed this after 2 MCs and it made me feel absolutely awful.

Stopped using it and stuck to low dose aspirin and high dose folic acid

I took cyclogest in my current pregnancy after 2 miscarriages at around the 6ish week mark. I’m currently 22 weeks and all going well. (I stopped the cyclogest at 16 weeks) Will never know for sure if it was anything to do with the cyclogeat but I felt reassured that I was doing everything I could. Personally I found them fine to take too. No side effects

@sweetdreams23 @misslomi thank you for letting me know. I’m feeling a little more positive as I’ve stopped bleeding two days ago. Have a follow up scan just after Xmas. just worried that the progesterone could mask a MC so reading you are both okay is making me feel better x
@cheeseandketchupsandwich I have read some people had bad side effects, so far okay here 🤞

Hi - just wanted to say I’m here too! Had a MMC earlier this year (and a v early MC before that) and got a BFP a few days ago, along with some light bleeding on one pad and spotting for a few hours. I’m on Cyclogest now too so waiting… What have you been advised to do? I was told take another pregnancy test in 2-3 weeks then if still positive go back to GP to discuss getting an early scan. Miserable to be waiting like this over Christmas and NY. I don’t feel pregnant but it’s early days I guess, not quite 5 weeks yet.

How are you getting on with the pessaries? I’ve not had any side effects yet but it’s a pain to have to lay down for 30 mins twice a day. (Probably good for me though!)

Good luck to us both 🌈

Hey @Oxalis00 - sorry to hear about your MCs - it’s such an anxious time being pregnant after that.
im getting on okay with the pessaries, I’ve had a little time off around the spotting so I’ve been able to just lay there in the morning. Today I’m back at work so we’ll see how that goes. Night time is easy and the nurse told me that’s why it’s done twice a day because when you do it before bed it absorbs the most if any falls out during the day.

I was lucky that our EPU can be used from 5 weeks so I got there via A&E and they have booked to rescan me just after Xmas.

good luck to you too 🌈

I've been taking Cyclogest since before my transfer (ivf) and have been on 800mg daily throughout. I've had a bleed at 6 weeks and then spotting for about a week and have been told to add Prolutex, which is also progesterone but given as an injection. My progesterone levels had been low at TF+14 but seem to have improved since. I'm meant to keep taking it until I'm 12 weeks.
Just keeping my fingers crossed that it helps and that this one sticks.

Awh @Busyhedgehog that sounds like a heck of a lot of hormones. I’m sorry to hear you’ve been spotting - must’ve been nerve racking. I haven’t been tested for progesterone levels it’s just what the guidance is to give if you’ve had one or more MCs

@BB78910 Sorry about your mcs. I wasn't aware of the use of progesterone for that.
I've had four ectopic pregnancies so far, which is why we switched to ivf. It's something you've got to take with that anyway and they checked my progesterone level on the day of transfer and then 14 days later. I assume the low progesterone levels were a reason why the first 5 attempts failed (2 of them implanted and I tested positive but lost them shortly after).
Keeping my fingers crossed for all of us to get there eventually.
