What did you find harder - first or third trimester?

Just that really.

With my first, the first trimester was hands down the most horrific time with the 24/7 nausea, and I found the rest of the pregnancy not too demanding.

However, I am now 32 weeks with my second and I feel awful. Not nausea but so uncomfortable, exhausted, bloated, can't sleep, achey - just everything!! Much harder than the first trimester this time.

Which one did you find harder?

I was nauseous during my first trimester but my god so uncomfortable during my last! Constant indigestion, felt huge (he was over 10lbs when born at 37 weeks) and there was a heatwave that year. While he may have ruined Christmas as I couldn't eat anything, the last trimester was not something I'd like to do again (though I did, with my DD).

First and second worse for me than third.

'Morning sickness' and complications. Weeks in hosital talking about viability.

Once everything sorted in third trimester so much better. I worked until my due date. Big and uncomfortable yes, my baby was over 9lb 😂 but better than earlier on.

Third.

Was horribly nauseous in first trimester. After that subsided, the rest of my pregnancy was a breeze.

Sugar!! I meant I preferred the third. Doh!!

First for me. I had all day nausea and some bouts of sickness unt 16 and 20 weeks.

Oh gosh :-( women are super heros.

I think we can conclude from this thread that pregnancy is just very difficult all round.

Worth it in the end though!

I felt fucking terrible in third trimester but it was my easiest trimester. 2nd was almost as bad as first (horrific debilitating nausea) plus people kept telling me I was definitely feeling good now because 2nd trimester is a breeze. I am not sure how I survived and not sure how I ever managed to go through it again

popplego · 15/12/2023 17:39

First for me overall, the tiredness/sickness/anxiety was hard. But then 12 days of being overdue was also pretty horrendous 😅

janfebmarchapril · 15/12/2023 18:15

First baby- second trimester was the hardest. Was a heat wave and I kept fainting, had an easy first and last tri.

Second baby- I'm already quite uncomfortable at 23 weeks so I think third tri will be a struggle

Kirstylvsya · 15/12/2023 20:17

First baby- I was 23, it was a breeze I didn't even think about it.

This baby- I'm 32 + 29 weeks and honestly hate every second. First trimester I was so so sick and exhausted. Seconded went on insulin for diabeties and now third I'm massive, sore, tired, wee bit depressed. Want it over. 😫

Also so excited to meet her and grateful to be pregnant after 9 years infertility!!

First. I became a different person. Hormones crazy, smell, taste, nausea 24/7. Have a toddler so no rest. Unable to cook or even got food shopping. I just complain 24/7.

JC89 · 15/12/2023 20:46

First trimester was harder, for both babies. The third was not fun especially for baby number 2, but not as bad as the exhaustion, nausea and vomiting of the first trimester. I had 3-4 weeks off work sick in the first trimester but worked up to 38-39 weeks in the third!

Olika · 15/12/2023 21:04

I had nausea all way through so no trimester was better than the others. It did help that I had been overweight/bigger before in my life so growing bump didn't bother me too much.

DGHZ · 15/12/2023 21:10

the first time round the first trimester was definitely the worst, although still not awful. The third trimester was completely fine and I was genuinely comfortable pretty much the whole way through. The kicks weren’t bad and I didn’t ever get back pain.

the second time round the first trimester was really bad, way more sick (it was a girl second time, boy first). But I’d probably say the third trimester was actually worse. Every kick hurt, to the point I was literally tensing up and having to stop in my tracks multiple times a day. It felt like she was kicking down the way instead of out into my bump like my son did

lucya66 · 15/12/2023 21:28

First trimester was awful. Sick everyday, nauseous all the time, couldn’t keep my head off my desk at work and couldn’t tell anyone why. The anxiety over miscarriage.

third trimester has been a breeze for me tbf. I’m huge and I can’t sleep well but no pains really and I like the baby movements.

ActDottie · 15/12/2023 22:40

Third trimester.

I think because first trimester I was still riding a wave of being so happy I was pregnant. I had terrible morning sickness so was off works for a long time.

But third trimester even though I’ve felt rough I’ve still worked because I’ve felt guilty not to when I can’t specifically say what’s wrong with me.

Im 35 weeks now and feel massssssive!!! Can’t sleep, have to wake up every two hours to take gaviscon. Can’t get comfy. Generally achey everywhere. Also torn/damaged my round ligament so in a lot of pain.

SisterMichaelsHabit · 15/12/2023 22:44

First for all three pregnancies due to hyperemesis. And then the final two or three weeks of DC2's pregnancy due to him being massive and getting wedged in my hip in a way that meant I actually couldn't walk properly (and also meant he had to come out through the sunroof).
The haemorrhoids in week 35 onwards were fecking awful both times I made it that far, though.

Bims2019 · 15/12/2023 22:53

Third trimester for me, I was very lucky with the first and had very few symptoms. Now the insomnia, heartburn, multiple night time wees, back ache, hip pain and general all round tiredness have caught up with me with only a couple of weeks to go!
