I have long irregular cycles (sometimes 6-7 weeks) due to pcos. I got a positive test on a boots early on 17th nov. I feel I conceived on the 6th Novembers tho I obv don’t know when I implanted.
Went for an early scan test expecting to be just over 7 weeks. Was measuring 5 weeks (sac and yolk sac visible but no pole). I have to go back early January…have I had a miscarriage or could it be too early? Very stressed x

Sorry to hear this @Unitedthebest, you must be worried. From what I’ve read on here, loads of people get different readings from early scans and it is a positive outcome. Especially when you’re not sure about your cycles. January will seem a long wait but I’m sure it’ll be good news ✨

Thank you…I’ve worked it out and it’s def only 5 weeks or less since I ovulated/conceived so just going to go with that until I know otherwise ❤️

You have to add the 2 weeks though. If you think you conceived/ovulated around the 6th, that would make you around 7+3 today. Did you only have sex on the 6th?

Having said that, with a positive pregnancy test on the 17th and long cycles, ovulating around the 6th sounds about right.

You won't know for sure until January, but I don't think it sounds good. I'm so sorry

Yeah true tho I’ve read some posts/info today that suggests these private companies also do it from conception too, only time will tell.

The weeks are from your last period though, not from when you ovulated? It's very early to have anything conclusive on a scan, I think unfortunately you will have to wait and see.

Thriving30 · 15/12/2023 11:40

That sounds right to me that it is measuring 5 weeks if you say you ovulate on the 6 Nov. At the scan they measure the growth of what they see not actually from the first day of your last period. And if you have late cycles it could've taken you just a bit longer to implant.

Unitedthebest · 15/12/2023 12:16

Thank you 🙏will just have to see now and hope they stick ❤️

I dont want to sound harsh but if you got a positive test on the 17th November there's no way you're only 5 weeks pregnant. I hope the scan was just off but I wouldn't be optimistic. I had a similar thing with my last pregnancy and unfortunately ended in a mmc sadly.

moosey89 · 15/12/2023 13:56

In the UK early scans measure from the first day of your last period. If you don't know when you ovulated then there's a chance your dates are out but unfortunately I've had this twice and it's been bad news both times, so it could go either way. As painful as it is you need to wait a week at least and go back for another scan. Sorry you're going through such uncertainty OP, it's a horrible place to be x

Yes you do sound harsh. There’s a way to phrase things which others on this thread have managed to do. I’m not optimistic I know it’s very unlikely. Thanks. Watch how you comment-you might do it on someone not as strong as me.

@moosey89 thank you-I’m so sorry to hear that. I’m not optimistic…got a scan next week as started bleeding now…maybe next year! 🙏
