Gut feeling baby could come early

Is there anyone who hasn’t been given a date for a c section or induction got a strange feeling they will give birth before 40 weeks? I’ve felt like that from out 28 weeks and I’m 32 weeks now, but today even my mum and mother in law both agreed that they think this little one will show up a bit earlier than the 40 weeks. No idea what they’re basing it on but for me it’s just a feeling. I’m hoping I get to 36/37 weeks at least.

Those that have had children before, did you get a feeling they would come early and did they?

Yes I have just had DD2 and both myself and my mother felt she would come early. She arrived at 39+2. Where as DD1 arrived at 40+2.

I think it was because I had a very early positive test that I felt she would come early x

I had a feeling my DD would come early. I was huge, thought maybe slightly further along than my dates, baby was engaged from around 34 weeks. Totally convinced she was coming early. She wasnt born until 41 weeks.

Nope. First was 2 weeks early and I wasn't expecting it at all. Was hoping for a break before she arrived. Second was 2 days early and I felt like I'd been waiting for ages even though she wasn't late.

Yes! I predicted it and she did, 4 weeks early actually!

I was booked in for an ELCS with my second. Half way through my pregnancy I had a definite feeling he would come early. I think you just know your body. He arrived at 38+2!
Started to get contractions at home and went into hospital. Still ended up with my ELCS.

Yes, I thought mine would arrive around 37 weeks, she actually turned up at 36 weeks! Had a gut feeling the whole pregnancy and talked about her arriving the month before she was due. I think I knew my family history, both sides of my family have never carried past 38 weeks so it was probably an educated guess!

I had a feeling with all mine they would come early. My first came a day early my second 3 days and my third 8 days. So not necessarily really early just about the time they should. I was really good at tracking though and knew exactly when I got pregnant so maybe that's something to do with it? With my youngest I knew she would be early so much so we were having a boiler fitted ( absolute mess, had asbestos in garage had to have that removed, no heating, gas etc) and when I was 38 weeks I was going mad trying to get it all sorted as I knew she would be here imminently. I even brought my mat leave forward from 40 weeks to 39 weeks ( she was born the day after I finished work 🤣) so yeah I guess you can get a feeling!! You know your own body and sometimes your intuition can really play a part.

I had a feeling my DS would be late, I was absolutely convinced. He came 4 days early. PPs have obviously had a different experience but for me my feeling was definitely not reliable!

BuchananBaby · 13/12/2023 22:05

Yes felt like that with both of mine even guessed DD’s birthday right 🙈 DD was born at 38+3

DS was born 1 day after I thought he’d be born but I was in labour that day. He was born at 38 weeks.

If only I could get the lottery numbers right😂!

Daisypod · 13/12/2023 22:19

I've had a feeling mine would be early every time. 4 were 2 weeks late and one was born on his due date.

Seeline · 13/12/2023 22:22

I was convinced my second was going to be early. 38 weeks seemed exactly right.
By the time she arrived at 40+12 I felt as though I had been pregnant for 10 months 😁

shangelawasrobbed · 13/12/2023 22:30

I was sure I was going to go overdue by at least a week. He arrived at 34+1.

Useruser1212 · 13/12/2023 22:48

I had a feeling my baby would come before I got my induction date.. my waters went at 36 + 5 and he was born at 37 weeks. Trust your gut.

DramaAlpaca · 13/12/2023 23:42

I had no idea DC1 would come early, but he did by five days. After that I expected DC2 to be early, but went over by five days. I absolutely knew by how I was feeling that DC3 would be early and he was, by five days again.

I felt like this and so did lots of friends and nobody was ever right, baby either on time or late. I think it's a really classic feeling around the start of third trimester as you just get so pregnant and think wow I'm huge/feel twinges etc and start to conclude that baby must be coming soon. Same with those around you, they will see a big bump and how pregnant you're feeling and will say wow that baby seems close. But I have concluded it's basically just a phase/symptom of pregnancy and no correlation to when baby comes!

Ebonythoughts · 14/12/2023 22:25

Thank you all so much. Might just be end of pregnancy anxiety but I still do think this baby will be before the 40 week mark.

Only time will tell!
