Lumps around nipples - is this normal?

Hello ladies!

It’s probably nothing to worry about but I’d like to ask none the less. Cancer runs in the family and my mother passed due to breast cancer so I’m always feeling/checking my breasts. I’m currently 11 weeks pregnant and when my nipples become hard the surrounding area seems lumpy/swollen also?

I didn’t know if this was normal or not, as you can see I’m an anxious first time mum and don’t know what changes to look for, not having my mother around anymore is proving difficult as I have so many questions but a lack of women in my life who can help me out.

Thank you in advance x

It’s most likely normal pregnancy changes - my first sign of pregnancy was bumps around my nipples. And your boobs go through a lot of changes whilst pregnant and post partum.
I wouldn’t worry, but of course given your family history, if you wanted to get seen by a doctor for reassurance then I’m sure they’d be happy to double check for you.

If it’s on both nipples/breasts then it’s likely normal.
