Does baby move less when engaged/on his way fairly soon?

Title says it all really. Have quite bad spd today after going for a long walk. But midwife things it also has something to do with engagement cause less movement over the past 24 hours too.
Do all those things combined sound like he's wanting to make an appearance any time soon?
Only 35 weeks so not really wanting him to come yet - want to get to 37 weeks at least and to be honest feeling a wee bit worried and frightened now.
Just because I'm not ready for him yet.
You get the magic 40 week date in your head and when it looks like it might be sooner it's a bit scary isn't it?!

How many movements are you having?

You should be getting 10 in a 12 hour period and the main thing to do is make sure the baby's pattern doesn't change.

Oh yes he's still moving but just not as 'thumpy' if that makes sense?! Still loads of wriggles though.

well yeah, when the head is engaged, its kind of 'locked' into the lower pelvis. which is why you feel so uncomfortable.

is it your first? first ones tned to engage sooner... and subsequent ones engage and unengage more freely..

fwiw, with my first one his head was engaged for weeks before he made an appearance. he finally came at 38 weeks, which isnt deemed to be early at all, so you wont neccessarily have a 'prem' birth.

good luck.

Thanks for the reassurance. It makes sense to me that the pain and the head engaging would be linked. Just want him to 'cook' a bit longer!

yeah, know what you mean. im sure he'll cook just as long as he needs and by that time you'll be serving eviction orders! i seem to remember taking up crosstitch in my last few weeks, so bored and frustrated was i with the discomfort and lack of mobility
