What to put newborn to sleep in

Due any day now.

I'm not sure what my baby will sleep in at first. I've got a couple of sleeping bags 0-6 but I'm sure from memory these aren't recommended for new new babies as can still slip underneath.

My other little one was summer baby so I can't remember having this problem and they just sleep in sleepsuits.

DS has just turned 1. When he was first born, we used the grosnug which is suitable and safe for newborns with a short sleeved vest and sleepsuit.

vest and baby grow and one of those holey blankets tucked in at the foot of whatever they are sleeping in.

A blanket with a bodysuit for now should be fine. They can spend a lot of time on your chest in the early days. Then as things progress you can choose what works best. For us, is was a Love to Dream swaddle (even better if someone says what can I get you as it is pricey)

I tried to Tommee Tippe gro swaddle bag but it felt tight on my LO's neck because of her shape!

Double check the lullaby trust as the rules can change re swaddling.

What an exciting time for you! Lovely time of year to have a baby! Lots of extra hands and perfect sunmer time when baby can sit on a picnic blanket etc etc

I used Love2Dream Swaddle Up! sleeping bags with both my two, alongside the baby burrito velcro swaddle sacks from Amazon like the Juicy Bumbles or Lekebaby ones, but they weren't as good.

I'd check out Vinted for them!

I have a 12 day old and I'm using the Tommy Tippee swaddle bag for newborns although I don't use it as a swaddle, just a sleep bag. It's perfect size for him.

Another vote for Love to Dream swaddle bags. We used a 2.5 tog one plus sleepsuit and a short sleeve vest (depends on how cold your house is). They fitted well from birth.

Just buy one to start with as not all babies love them.

Thanks everyone, one more thing ticked off and ordered a winter love to dream swaddle up. After 3 months I will be happy to use the 0-6 one I already have.

Just need him to make an appearance now.

Good luck!

I had quite a small baby (2nd centile). He was swaddled in a cellular blanket until he was big enough for tommee tippee grosnugs. I think they're good from about 7.5lb but it does say on the label. He was in 0-6 sleeping bags by about 2 months. If you look on the label it should have a minimum weight.
