Tight clothing under bump

Ok this might be a stupid question but can a tight band underneath bump be harmful?

I can't find any maternity tights that fit over my bump (if anyone can recommend any please do!) so I'm having to wear them just under my bump. Its not uncomfortable but they are digging in.

I did buy some black opaque stockings but they are useless and just roll down!

There won’t be any risk to baby, just uncomfortable for you. There’s loads of maternity tights, if you find your normal size doesn’t go over your bump go up a size

They do maternity tights on new look, m&s boohoo etc loads of different places. I've went through a few during my first pregnancy.

Definitely try maternity leggings and jeans. They're so much more comfortable on the bump as well as non underwire bras. I loved the m&s maternity bra range!

Try the maternity tights from H&M, they are really comfy!

EnjoyTheMushrooms · 08/12/2023 12:44

I can’t recommend the maternity leggings form Jojo maman bebe enough. So comfy.

if you’re wearing under a skirt/dress with boots, you could get away with leggings.

Otherwise, what about buying a cheap pair of normal tights from primark or the supermarket a few sizes up?

Strawberry06 · 08/12/2023 13:20

Thanks for the replies - believe me when I say none fit! I have tired H&M, Next, M&S all in XL and they don't even come close - completely useless.

I do have a really comfy pair of 'treggings' form H&M that I wear for work but I was after tights specifically.

I'm surprised maternity tights fit, even pregnant with twins I just went up a maternity size .

Peacocks was really good for maternity clothes, I lived in a particular pair of soft trousers for months.

If it's digging in, I'd probably look for something else as I assume you're quite late on. How about mat trousers either entirely soft ones or the ones with the deep band. Narrow band are useless if you're bumps huge imo

@SleepingStandingUp I am all bump and its a massive bump

Have you tried George at Asda maternity tights? I have some and find them great

Mandy10624 · 09/12/2023 17:58

I reccomend maternity bras from M&S! I’m 15 week’s pregnant and they have been a God send!

For maternity leggings I found a pair on Amazon during the Black Friday sales and they are perfect! They fit over my bump so comfortably! I’m a secondary school teacher in a large school and easily do 10,000 steps a day and the leggings have been so comfortable! Would definitely recommend ☺️❤️❤️

@Strawberry06 try snag tights they go really large in tight size and should fit over the bump xx

NoIncomeTaxNoVAT · 09/12/2023 18:52

Seraphine do maternity tights and i find them loads stretchier than the ones from M&S and Next that i tried.

Butterflysunshine01 · 09/12/2023 20:09

Lovall maternity tights are so good! Really comfy and stretchy. I got a pair online and about to order more.

GLC789 · 09/12/2023 22:47

I'm having a mare with maternity tights too!!! And maternity clothes in general!

I'm almost 6 foot tall!! Apparently there isn't not such a thing as tall + maternity clothing rolled into one. According to the high street I can only be one or the other!? 😔😔😔 X

GLC789 · 09/12/2023 22:48

Isn't such a thing *
