Had anti biotics last weeks for chest infection/horrendous cough and it cleared it up but now it’s creeping back and I’ve got a cold too…struggling to sleep. Anyone know what their midwife’s said you can take? I’m only 7 weeks x

Paracetamol and ibuprofen that is about it.

Yh you’re definitely not allowed ibuprofen.

I take paracetamol and drink warm vimto. I don’t think we’re allowed Lemsip during pregnancy.

Definitely steer clear from ibuprofen unless advised otherwise by a medical professional. Paracetamol is supposed to be ok if you think you really need it. Steam from a hot shower can help but be careful not to take hot bath etc

Paracetamol.

With plenty of fluids, vitamin C and sleep. You've got to help your body fight it off.

Warm lemon barley water helps with the sore throat.

On the tail end of Flu myself - 31w.
Been a bloody nightmare!!!
Really can't take anything other than Paracetamol every 6hrs.
Lemon water helps my bad throat/cough.
Small amount of Oilbas Oil on a tissue for my nose - that's about it :(

@GreatGateauxsby that is dangerous advice. Ibuprofen is not okay in pregnancy.

OP as you’re so early you’d be best to just grin and bear it. I had a horrible cold about 14 weeks and just took lemon and honey and tried to nap.

Whataretheodds · 07/12/2023 08:27

If you miss lemsip you could try soluble paracetamol in hot water with lemon and honey. Or just swallow the tablets and separately have hot water lemon juice manuka honey and ginger. I boiled up fresh ginger for an hour to make the base.

Also prop up on some extra pillows. Inhale steam from a bowl
Use a sterimar saline nose spray or similar.
Add ginger, garlic, tumeric and chilli to soup or stew or whatever you're eating
Vitamin C.
