Tog ratings & room temperature

I’m due to have my baby in March and I want to use the Tommee Tippee swaddle bags. They come in tog ratings of 2.5 (all year round/ 20-22 degrees), 1.5 (16-20degrees) and 0.5 for even hotter temperatures. I’m unsure which tog rating to get for a newborn born in mid March - also what is the normal temperature for room baby is sleeping in?

Hi, it’s recommended babies sleep in rooms between 16-20C, but sometimes you can’t help it being warmer or cooler and if you adjust bedding/clothing baby is fine.

I’d recommend one 1.5/1.0 and one 2.5 to start with as you might find baby needs the thicker one in the middle of the night, but the thinner one when heating is on or in the daytime. I used a 1.0 “light” sleeping bag with my April newborn but we were co sleeping so had body heat contributing too. Also some babies run warm/cold - both mine liked to have more layers of clothing on or a higher tog than the temperature guides recommended, but they are only guides - every baby is different. Hope that helps.
