Round ligament pain from 6 weeks

Hello!

I am 12 weeks and have had round ligament pain from as early as 5 weeks. It’s not constant at all but always happens when I stand up, get out of bed or sneeze and it’s quite severe when it occurs. Feel like I’m being torn in half.

I’m just concerned that it starting so early might mean I’m really going to be in for it later in pregancy and end up with severe pelvic girdle pain. Has anyone had this pain in early pregnancy and it’s just stayed the same/settled or should I expect it to get worse? I’m a nurse so spend a lot of time on my feet and have had two nursey friends who ended up on crutches with PGP. The pregnancy worries are just endless aren’t they 😂

PGP and RLP are not really connected... But I can tell you my RLP, which also started pretty early, is now almost unbearable if I have to walk more than 5 minutes, at 22 weeks...

But some people say it goes away? So Im bidding my time...

I had it from early in my first pregnancy and it never got really bad. I felt it a lot but not problematically so. Started similarly early this time so suspect it's just how I'm built!

@ASGIRC Oh gosh that sounds miserable! Hoping for you it goes away or that you are able to rest up!

@oop hopefully this will be the case for me too! I wondered if it was linked to hypermobility as it feels like as soon as I got pregnant my abdominal just stopped trying 🤣

I started it early and was shocked! I’m waddling and I’m 22 weeks but have an average size bump (easy to hide with some baggy clothes) but I feel as if I’m due tomorrow.

I started wearing a pregnancy belt which helps when I’m on my feet. My Uber fees are higher than I would like as I can’t do the long walks between train stations.

A hot shower or bath really helps!

I had 2 days were it disappeared last week then it came back. It doesn’t feel as bad - or maybe I’m just used to it now.

@yoghurttops That sounds like me! The long walks are a killer! But for me, the belt doest really help, sadly...

Fortunately the pain goes away while sat down!
