Antifungal meds during pregnancy?

Hi all, my athlete's foot has flared up pretty bad (gross, I know). Doc has prescribed me 1% canesten. There are warnings on daktarin and similar saying not to use unless "risk to the mother of greater than risk to the fetus". I've read a bit and it seems it's probably harmless at this dose, but if anyone has used antifungal while pregnant and has a healthy baby that would reallly reassure me!

You can use canesten for thrush during pregnancy inside and outside so on your foot will be fine

I've been prescribed vaginal canesten during pregnancy, both pessary and cream, and the doctor didn't even mention any risk.

The fact your Dr prescribed it knowing you are pregnant should be more reassuring than us randomers on the Internet...!

it's fine unless your skin is broken/red raw.

make sure to wash your hands really well afterwards.

I was reassured until he somewhat confusingly said "only use it if it really starts to bother you, but if you can go without treating it that's better"!

3 days later...yeah that's gonna need treatment, doc

Ugh I hate doctors that try and sit on the fence like that. They should prescribe assertively and not expect you to take responsibility for medicine decisions yourself based on such vague advice.

Anyway, take the cream...!

I quite agree! Thanks and I will, whatever the risks i can't imagine having a mother with trench foot will be good for the kid either 😆
