Hair highlights during pregnancy

I'm 14 weeks pregnant and wondering whether it's safe to have my highlights done. Highlights require bleaching hair which isn't great but at the same time the hair dye doesn't go directly on the scalp with highlights. What are your thoughts/experiences?

I just had mine done around 25 weeks, my midwife said the main risks were around allergic reaction so I got a new patch test done. Similar to you I have highlights so the bleach doesn’t touch the scalp and my hairdresser was more careful with this. Mine have been fine and I feel much better for getting them done!

I’ve had mine done 3 times in my pregnancy and I’m now 35 weeks and I’ve never had any issue.

My hairdressser just checked on them developing more as your body temp is slightly higher than before therefore developing may take less time.

The not dying your hair is outdated advice, even before 12 weeks although being cautious I'd still wait yo be on safe side, go get your hair done and enjoy x

I had mine highlighted a few times in my first pregnancy with DS and recently had it highlighted again in this pregnancy (29 weeks). If you're worried at all about any reactions you can ask your hairdresser to do another patch test before doing it all x
