Scoliosis and pregnancy

Hi

I wondered if there is anyone also experiencing pregnancy or has previously experienced pregnancy with scoliosis or scoliosis surgery?
I am 8 weeks pregnant so fairly early on in my journey :) I’m 26 now and had scoliosis surgery when I was 13.
I’ve mentioned my surgery to the GP and I have my booking appointment on Monday. I have read that scoliosis shouldn’t affect pregnancy in any way - I just thought it would be nice to hear from people maybe going through the same thing!

I have scoliosis and my pregnancy went fine with my 5 year old, we made jokes that he hid in the curve of my spine because my belly always measured small whereas he measured big so we said thats where he hid! Haha. I'm almost 22 weeks now and again no issues. I did labour in my back a fair bit but so did my mum and she doesn't have scoliosis!
I haven't had surgery or anything for it so don't know if that makes a difference x

Not with the pregnancy itself, but it can affect what anaesthetic options are available to you, if needed, especially if you have had surgery. You may need to see an anaesthetist later on in your pregnancy to discuss this more.

Your journey sounds just like me - I’m 4 weeks. Fused t3-L3 and absolutely petrified about what’s going to happen to my back and how il manage the pain or what experience I will have! Would love to hear how your are getting on !!

Thanks for the messages everyone!
@Nay1990 im now 19 weeks and doing fine really! I believe I’ll be having a chat with an anathestist in a while to find out more about my options for birth. But everything touch wood is going smoothly at the moment! Hope things are fine for you!

Hi, I pray for a healthy and comfortable journey for you all during your pregnancies.

I am a university student (final year) aiming to make a product to aid mothers-to-be with spinal issues such as scoliosis, kyphosis, and lumbar lordosis, like a brace (maternity belt mixed with scoliosis support) that can be worn and adjusted through the changes during pregnancy (the design may change or product in general, as feedback from mothers, doctors and such will allow me to expand further to see what is beneficial and comfortable).

I was wondering if anyone would be comfortable having a private message conversation to gain further insight into pregnancy whilst facing spinal issues.

I am new to Mumsnet, so I may be a tad slow at navigating, but please do not hesitate to reach out via private messaging!
