Holiday before baby comes

Recently found out I’m 6 weeks pregnant with our first baby.

DH and I would love to get some sun before baby comes, we are hoping to go away for a week in April time.

Firstly, would anyone mind sharing how far along they were when they’ve been on holiday before and whether you were ok?

Secondly, would be interested in some recommendations on where to go for some sun in April!

I went to Portugal for the Easter holiday when I was pregnant, I was around 4 months. Which was a great time to go as I had a lot more energy in my second trimester.

I went to Spain at both 16 weeks and 29 weeks and it was amazing. I think the relaxation did baby well! Just have to make sure you stay hydrated and wear flight socks (and if over 28 weeks have fit to fly just incase).
I'd definitely recommend it, have an amazing holiday!

I went to Greece at 24w - I was a bit nervous about it because I had some complications at the start of the pregnancy, but at the same time that situation had settled down and we really wanted to spend one last holiday just the two of us before baby. I picked a hotel that was on the beach, and only 30 mins from one of Greece's best hospitals (really this was very extra of me, but gave me confidence. Fortunately was not needed)

We had an amazing time, so glad we went!

That sounds great! I see that most airlines need a fit to fly after 27 weeks. Do you think I’m better travelling before then?

I think it's really up to you and how your feeling. I'm now 29w and tbh I'm starting to feel it. I'd rather not be sitting in a tiny plane seat for hours at this stage, but everyone different and you might be absolutely fine after 27w

But if you were looking to book now, I'd be booking to go before the start of the third trimester to get the best chance of you being comfortable and mobile.

I went away at 26 weeks and it was great! Things that helped was I googled local hospitals where we were going so I know there was medical care easily available just in case.

Id recommend going between 20 and 28 weeks as you’ll have your 29 week scan out of the way, and likely be feeling pretty good.

I went away at 24 weeks to gran canaria, it was the best time for me as I was nauseous until 20weeks!!
We lazed around the pool, had some lovely walks and brought some funky babu clothes.

Holidays with a baby/toddler afterwards are very different 😃

Just to add, book an aisle seat on the plane, I was up and down to the toilet.
Did have some cheeky sod try and ask me to swap seats..that was a hard no 😃

Many congratulations, yes holiday before is lovely. DH & I went to Turkey, we had a really great time, really enjoyed it.

I went to Spain at 23 weeks and it was so wonderful, I'm so glad we did it. My husband and I had a lovely, romantic time but it also gave us a bit of time to think about all the upcoming changes! Definitely do it if you can

My baby was due at the end of July and we went to Rhodes early May for some sunshine. It was so lovely, perfect weather but did get a bit chilly in the evenings!
