Blood pressure already rising at 16 weeks

Hi everyone, I had pregnancy induced hypertension in my previous pregnancy and my daughter was born at 37 weeks after I was induced due to IUGR and placental insufficiency. Because of these past complications I’m being monitored closely this pregnancy and taking aspirin. I had a recent blood pressure reading at an appointment which said 131/83 at 16 weeks after being much lower at my booking in appointment. My consultant said that blood pressure usually goes down between 1st and 2nd trimester and not up, so the fact that mine is going up already indicates it will continue to rise and I’ll need to be treated. I’ll be having my blood pressure monitored every 2 weeks from now and then once a week from 28 weeks. I’m worrying about the possibility of having to deliver earlier than I did with my daughter and baby needing time in NICU, my daughter was absolutely fine and didn’t need any NICU care so that would be a whole new experience for me.

Does anyone have any experience of this situation and how did it go for you? When did you end up delivering your baby?

So sorry to read this @naggy095. I'd imagine you are naturally worried, although it seems like you are being carefully looked after. Fingers crossed it was a one off and just high due to it being taken at the appointment - do you have a monitor at home? They should give you one if not.

I had to be induced at 38 weeks with my second and also on aspirin/have a blood pressure monitor at home with this pregnancy. Touch wood, I've been ok so far and I'm 28 weeks tomorrow but it's also always in the back of my head about it rising.

Thinking of you 🥰

@babythreeincoming I do have one at home! They told me to be careful with it though as it can become addictive so to wait until I speak to midwife next about it before using mine 😂

Glad to hear all is well for you at the moment, fingers crossed yours stays within normal range 🤞🏼they only took my blood pressure reading that one time at the appointment and never redid it so I’m also hoping it was just a one off

@naggy095 Ooooh! I often forget to do mine 🤦🏼‍♀️ I'm meant to do mine twice a week now so maybe I'll remember more. Have you redone a check today? Hope you're feeling well in yourself 😊
