Shared care vs consultant-led care?

I recently had my midwife booking appointment and was told I'd be under "shared care" due to having endometriosis and recurrent miscarriage. I have the date for my 12 week scan and am awaiting an appointment with a consultant. I was told that, putting the above factors aside, my pregnancy would be considered low risk.

My question is: is "shared care" the same thing as "consulant-led care"? Before this pregnancy I had only ever heard of "midwife-led care" and "consultant-led care", so am wondering if "shared care" is a re-branding of the latter; or if it's a middle-ground between the two. With all the questions flying about at my booking appointment I didn't think to ask this!

If anyone is receiving "shared care" and can explain what this looks like (e.g. number of extra appointments/scans, impact on birthing options, etc) that would be great to hear. Thank you in advance ☺️

I have shared care. This is my first pregnancy so I can't comment on how it differs from consultant led care, but I am having all the standard midwife appointments as you usually would in midwife led care, but I also saw a consultant at 16w who has organised additional scans at 16w, 28w and 32w (which will be my next one) and I have a consultant follow up immediately after each scan.

The results of my scans have been good but not perfect, I get the impression if they'd been 100% happy I would have been discharged back to midwife led only.
