Hi everybody

Found out I was pregnant last week after over 6 years of trying, obviously over the moon but so nervous as if this one doesn't stick I'm unlikely to get another chance!

For the past 24hrs I have been getting stabbing pains in the left side of my groin, along with the usual period type pain in my lower stomach on and off, up to now i havent bled. Its not unbearable but defintely there. I am terrified that it is an ectopic pregnancy, my local EPU isn't open until Monday now and I haven't yet got an appointment with midwife so wouldn't know how to contact them.

Has anybody else experienced this before? My DD is nearly 10 so it has been a while since I was last pregnant and I can't remember if I had it with her.

TIA x

Congrats on your pregnancy!
no answer but bumping for you

When you say pain in your groin, where exactly do you mean? If we are telling about your vaginal/cervix area is unlikely to be related to an ectopic as that would usually be felt higher up

Goldwhisper · 24/11/2023 22:45

I’ve had an ectopic before and was convinced the pregnancy after was ectopic too as I had similar sounding pain to yours in my other side but everything was completely fine. Hope all goes well for you.

I had an ectopic pregnancy previously and it started as lower abdominal pain that woke me up, then noticed pain in right groin like a pin prick size and over 2 hours got more and more painful. I was crawling the floor in agony, huffing and puffing. Had diarrhoea, pain in my rectum. Never bleeding or should tip pain.
that was 5+ weeks. I would see how it goes.
of worsening to A&E. otherwise go to EPU on monday

If the pain is mild and isn't getting more intense, it's likely fine.

Groin pain isn't generally related to an ectopic, one sided pelvic pain can be though if you meant that?

If the pain becomes severe and/or you experience shoulder tip pain, go to a&e, otherwise you should be okay to wait until Monday.
