Hello all.. Have been back to the day assessment unit as I’ve had borderline high blood pressure for a couple of weeks, today I’ve been told it’s no longer borderline and I’ve been started on Labetalol 100mg twice a day. Just wondering how this made you all feel, they keep me in the triage for 2 hours after the first dose to see how I reacted to it. Does this mean I’m likely to be induced sooner, plan is 39 weeks at the moment and I’m currently 35 + 2, feeling absolutely exhausted all the time and just had enough now to be honest.

Thanks in advance ♥️

Hi, i‘m on the same medication but it’s due to prior blood pressure issues than pregnancy related.
The dose your on is the standard dose. They would have kept you in to monitor you, make sure you didn’t feel too tingly and to make sure your blood pressure is starting to come down.

With my first pregnancy I had a scheduled c section at 39 weeks and that’s the plan for my second pregnancy.
It’s unlikely they will induce you any earlier, they will want to hold off until 39 weeks. If your blood pressure if now under control then you’ll start to feel slightly less tired but sadly not much since you’re coming towards the end of your pregnancy, you’re bound to feel exhausted and just wiped out!
As long and you and baby keep okay then they won’t change their plan.

I know the feeling though! I was totally fed up and exhausted by week 37 and was really hoping they’d take the baby earlier but they like to hold off for as long as they can.

Thank you. If it has to be 39 weeks that's absolutely fine, I just worry about how close it will be to Christmas and leaving my 2 boys. I've also been told I will now need to be kept in for 48 hours after baby is born to monitor her blood sugars.
Have now taken my 3rd dose and the only symptom I have is a slight tingling in my scalp 🤷🏼‍♀️ I'm tired but I don't remember the last time I slept more than a 3 hour stretch without a toilet break or having to prepare my self for the agony of rolling over in bed..
Sorry to moan, I know it will all be worth it just feeling a bit meh at the moment.

I was on 200mg labetalol when I had HBP in pregnancy (34 w) I only felt a little squiffy if I had it on an empty tummy.

After giving birth, I was getting dizzy spells so got my BP tested and was able to drop my dosage and then altogether fairly fast. So pay attention to your body (you will need to wean off the meds - they don't let you cold turkey it)

Best of luck!

They told me the same thing but I got home the next day! They test the baby’s blood sugar 5 times and if they are all okay then you can get sent home. The midwife will then check the day after youre home.

Tingling scalp is completely normal and will pass soon 🤞

I came off the tablets completely- no weaning as I was healthy but I moved to a different tablet a few days later due to other health issues. They should monitor and let you know the plans but it can all change fairly quickly. If it’s close to Christmas you might find they’ll want to send you home quicker!
