Ate undercooked pork mince

Hi everyone, I need some advice. My mum cooked some meatballs using pork mince I bought from the shop, and after eating one, I noticed it was still pink inside. I’m currently 17 weeks pregnant and worried it might harm the baby. Should I call the doctor, or wait to see if any symptoms develop? Thanks so much for your help.

Undercooked food doesn’t ’harm a baby’. You haven’t hurt your baby by undercooked pork mince. There is nothing specifically in undercooked pork that is heading to your womb and hurting the baby.

undercooked food increases your risk of food poisoning and other food borne illnesses , and food poisoning isn’t good for pregnant women.

how do you feel?

if you don’t have food poisoning, heavy vomiting or diarrhoea, then you are fine and baby will be fine.

calm down

I’m not sure there’s much a doctor can do as you’ve eaten the food. You just need to stay calm and hopefully you won’t have food poisoning which is unlikely. Most recommendations for eating when pregnant are to avoid foods that could potentially lead to food poisoning.

As others have said, the meat itself won't harm your baby, the warnings are just because food poisoning is more dangerous when you're pregnant. Assuming you don't get food poisoning, you've nothing to worry about.

I do remember what it's like. Flowers and a decaf Brew

It doesn't sound like you ate much so it's unlikely you would get food poisoning from it, and as others have said the undercooked food in itself won't harm the baby. There's nothing a doctor can do as you don't currently have any symptoms or issues so no need to contact anyone. I'm sure it will be fine x

Also just to add, I had food poisoning during pregnancy (early on) and that baby will be celebrating their first birthday next month!
