38 weeks is this early labour?

I’m 38 weeks exactly today and wondering if I’m in early labour! I’m due to be induced next Fri as baby is small , this is my 4th baby.

I’ve woken up this morn with period pains which isn’t unusual I’ve been having these for a few weeks, but TMI I’ve had really loose stools/diarrhoea 3 times since 8am 😳 I’ve also got a pain in the left side of my pelvis when I walk - it feels like her head is right there.

I went for a scan on Mon and the sonographer struggled to get her head measurements as she was SO low down - she literally had to scan the top of my pubis! Does this sound like it could be early labour? Baby is moving fine, I don’t know whether to ring or not

In my opinion, your body is getting ready but you wouldn’t know for sure until the actual contractions and ‘tightness’ start. But I am not expert.

For me, with the last pregnancy I had the period-like pains for a while, but that was because she was so low down and so big, and then the constant braxton-hicks (terrifying when driving), and then early contractions were next after a week or so and they got stronger and more consistent leading to the birth.

Definitely could be! I’m 37w today and saw the midwife yesterday, I mentioned the period pains I’d be having and she said it can be a sign of things starting🤞🏼

I had about a week of period pains at night and two days of diarrhea before my labor started, so it sounds like you could be on your way!
