Am I pregnant?

Hi all,

i did a pregnancy test on Sunday and had a faint line (please see photo although camera really couldn’t pick it up, more prominent in person) that other people could also see. This was an early clear blue test that I read within the time also. But it’s now Tuesday and I’ve done one and it’s negative. Am I pregnant of was this just a false positive?

I think I can see a shadow. How early are you testing?
When you did the test today was it with fmu?

Sadly clear blue are notorious for evap lines so it could be an Evap, or even a flooded test.
Id try a different brand and see what it says.

Suuuper early - I’m on contraception and had my period on the 10th but don’t expect my next one until the 2nd. This was my fmu both times. I’ve tried another brand but it’s hard finding early tests here. Maybe I’ll wait another couple of days and try again?

You're not due for 10 days. Wait 48 hours and test again.

  • 14 days

I’m not an expert but seems too early to get a positive 11+ days early
and if it’s from your last cycle I’d expect it to be showing up more by now so I’d guess no, but wait a few days and test again

LuRayRay · 21/11/2023 09:22

Okay I thought so - thanks all. I’ll take another test at the end of the week. If negative then I guess it was some sort of error with the first.

Yeah I’d hold off for a lot longer. Would maybe start testing next week.’

Whataretheodds · 21/11/2023 09:58

Do you want to be pregnant? What made you take the test on Sunday if you're on contraception?

LuRayRay · 21/11/2023 11:32

It’s not planned but it wouldn’t be a bad thing, me and my partner both agreed we would be happy and keep the baby. I’ve just had a lot of odd symptoms, headaches, nausea and tiredness that I spoke to the doctors about who said that even on contraception it’s a possibility so I thought I’d test and saw a faint line but now negative so all a bit confusing!

You ovulate around 14 days before your period give or take a few days, so you’d only have been ovulating around the time you took that test on Sunday. Definitely not a positive. Clear blue are the worst for showing lines when negative. Headaches, nausea etc can be caused be hormones so could have just been a symptom of ovulation. Could just be a bit of a mild bug.

This.

Even if you ovulated slightly early, the earliest tests pick up is 8 days past ovulation.

These tests are notorious for faint lines, even darker than this that aren't positive. I've had a fair few.

Makes sense! I did think it’d be impressive if I was as I’ve always used my contraception to the book but didn’t want to ignore it. Thank you all for your help!

So I just did another clear blue early detection one, fmu, and it’s come back again with a very faint line. I did a normal one last night and nothing was on that. I also had a blood test earlier this week so does anyone know if they’d detect it on that or would they have to specifically test for it (this wasn’t a blood test related to pregnancy, just a routine one). I know clear blue are notorious for having evap lines and faulty tests but just want to know people’s thoughts on having 2 faint positives within 2 weeks.

The blood test would have to be specifically for hcg, so a routine one for something else wouldn’t catch it

LuRayRay · 01/12/2023 08:45

I did think that - to be honest I think it is just clear blue tests being rubbish but don’t just want to ignore it!
