Past cholestasis and contraception

Hi.
Ive just recently had my second obstetric cholestasis pregnancy. I get it very severely and it runs in my family.
My pregnancies were 15 years apart and in between these I used the pill (combined) with no known issues. However, my sister has been told she isn’t able to use any contraceptive other than the hormone free coil due to past cholestasis.

Im just wondering if anyone has anymore information on this?
If you suffered with cholestasis what contraceptive do you use?

I’ve never been told this.

My consultant said no oestrogen containing contraception. Also had cholestasis in all my pregnancies.

I've never had this information after my cholestasis pregnancy and i have a mirena coil. What is the problem, did they say?

I find it appalling that there is so little known about it. I had my daughter by planned C-section three weeks ago at 37 weeks. The difference in opinion between all consultants throughout the pregnant was crazy. I didn’t know wether I was coming or going at the end - so conflicting.

Nothing has been mentioned re contraception so I’m very unsure what to do! I don’t like the idea of the coil at all. I wish I had asked to have my tubes cut during the C-section now as I know this will be my last baby.

I’ve located the answer. Looks like basically anything is ok but caution with combined pill.

What contraceptive did you choose (if you don’t mind me asking!).
