Hi all,
after some advice
had a confirmed pregnancy test, and work out I should be 7 weeks. However I started getting some brown discharge few days ago. I was booked into EPU for an early scan. The scan revealed 2 sacs, one empty and one with a baby measuring 5+1 no heartbeat as yet. I’ve been booked back in for 10 days. In the meantime I had a heavy bleed yesterday and a couple of clots. Has anyone been through something like this. Could I be miscarrying the sac or is this the baby that I have lost. Any help or advise would be really appreciated thanks all

Hi, so sorry as I know this is upsetting and very stressful as I’ve been there. The most straightforward answer I can give you is that it’s honestly impossible to say what is happening. What I can tell you is that bleeding especially in multiple pregnancy is very common and doesn’t always mean the worst.

I lost a little boy before falling pregnant with my twins. I only discovered I was pregnant due to the fact I had some unexplained bleeding following my loss so was sent for a scan. At that scan I found I was 6+5 with twins. Just a couple of days later I had a huge gush of blood and bleeding that was red and heavy and I was absolutely and utterly devastated and convinced I had lost one or both. I had a 4 day wait for the earliest scan I could get at the rainbow clinic. Braced myself for the worst news as I couldn’t imagine how they could still be there after all the bleeding and I was still bleeding during the scan. To my surprise there they both still were with heartbeats and no reason for the bleeding could be seen. My bleeding stopped at around 10 weeks and I had a spell without any, I then had bleeding again around week 15/16. As no reason could ever be seen on the scans it was deduced that I probably had what’s called cervical ectropion. There can be many reasons for bleeding, and of course not all of them mean miscarriage. I had only the tiniest bit of very pale pink spotting on wiping when I lost my son, so not bleeding is not really a reliable indicator either.

The wait for your next scan will be painfully slow, try and see if they can perhaps bring it forward for you, they might do this if you call and explain the bleeding. I’ll be thinking of you, hoping that the wait passes just as quick as it can and sending you all the very best wishes and hoping you get the best news. 💐

Thank you for responding. Sorry to hear that you also went through something similar.

My worry is that because I passed clots that I’ve miscarried something. Holding onto as much hope as I can and praying there is still the little baby we saw on the scan but with the bleeding and clots that I had it just doesn’t look very good. Still bleeding now however not as much.

honestly pregnant is the most beautiful thing but one of the hardest. I have a beautiful 15 month baby girl and I am just grateful that I have her!
