Low Amniotic Fluid 38 & 5 days - Anyone else experienced this?

So, all the way through from 20 weeks I’ve had to have additional growth scans because of cord notching & today was told Amniotic fluid has reduced down to “3” whatever that means, I assume 3cm? However baby is growing normally, I was directed to speak to a consultant afterwards and was told I’d have to be swabbed for traces of amniotic fluid in case of leaking, that test came back negative then I was told that I’m within the “normal range” anyway so the consultant wasn’t sure why it’s been recorded as too low. I don’t really think it helps that I’ve had numerous sonographers doing scans so I don’t think they’re that accurate anyway.

Has anyone else experienced this? I’m now paranoid and worried something will go wrong - consultant just said to attend normal midwife appointment in a couple of weeks, no more scans booked. Movements are normal to me, I have had more leakage below but this is more like thinner discharge as to be expected at the end of pregnancy!

Not low amniotic fluid but just to say I am 38+1 and I am having constant discharge so as you say I think that's to be expected at this point x

Yes I think I was just abit shocked as everything has been okay on the scans up until now! I assumed the leaking I felt was discharge anyway, I wasn’t concerned so never bothered ringing anyone about it, which was confirmed anyway by this amniotic fluid test I had to do. Not to sound grim but it literally feels like a trickle as if you’ve come on your period sometimes 😂 I’ve started wearing a pad just incase there’s a mess!

@Anonymousm not sure if it's your first but with my first it actually wasn't as bad as it was imagining, hoping for the same when DC2 makes an appearance. Our bodies are absolutely amazing and you will have a lovely baby at the end of it x

It is my first haha, absolutely clueless really, I’ve tried not to other think things and stay calm. I’m very much what will be will be but can’t help but wonder how I’ll act through labour 😬. Hopefully I’ll cope with the pain, only one way to find out, weirdly my biggest worry is feeling sick and throwing up, have a sick phobia! Thanks ☺️ Hope all goes well for you! X

Gas and air makes me sick, but they can give you an anti-emetic. It worked wonders for me. I'm not sure if they will give it preventively, but you can ask!

@Thankyouthankyoujellybean Sorry for delayed reply! My mum and auntie have both warned me off gas & air because it made them feel sick I don’t think they were sick though they just braved it and didn’t bother with pain relief at all 😬. Not sure I’m that stoic though 😂. I’m hoping to give birth in a stand alone MLU if complications I’d be blue lighted to another hospital 20 minutes away! Would they also be able to give anti emetics?

It's just an injection so I'd assume so, but check!
