I'm currently 18 weeks pregnant, and up until recently our dog (dalmatian) has slept with us in the bedroom in his own bed on the floor. It all started when we went away for a week with the dog and had no choice but to have him in the room with us before this he slept downstairs fine, this was about a year ago. As soon as we got back from our break we tried to get him back downstairs but he cried a couple of times and the neighbours complained so we moved him back upstairs to keep the peace.
I said to my DH I want him to sleep separate again either downstairs or on the landing in his own bed, so we tried it last night, he slept for about 4 hours then cried so took him outside as we thought he may need a wee, which he did but then when we went to settle him again to get him back to sleep he wouldn't stop whining, not too loud but loud enough for us to hear. So in the end at about 4.30 we had to let him back in at fear of the neighbour and also my DH went back to work today. Has anyone got any ideas for us to try, we tried crate training a while back and he hated it. We are stuck because I'm worried it's going to annoy neighbours but at the same time as much as I trust him he thinks he's tiny and he's not so don't want him in the bedroom when DS is born next year. I'm trying to do this early so it doesn't create a rift when baby is here.
Any ideas welcome.
Also he's fine when we're both at work in the living room usually sleeps for 6 hours the time we're at work other than being let out by family so no crying then.
