Essential oils in pregnancy.. help!

Please can someone tell me whether this is something I should be concerned about or whether I am being overly anxious!

I am in my 2nd trimester and yesterday I accidentally got a few drops of 100% pure eucalyptus oil on my skin, I washed it off under the tap and didn't think anything of it. Today I have seen that it says on the bottle not to get in direct contact with skin and if pregnant to consult your physician, so now I am panicking!

Can someone help reassure or advise me please

You’ll be absolutely fine

It's fine.

No one is going to do a clinical trial putting something on pregnant women to see if it harms them or their babies. Can you imagine?

So most things are not proven to be safe in pregnancy. That is not the same thing as being dangerous in pregnancy.

If companies say nothing (or imply something is proven to be safe) they could be sued. So they whack on a warning.

There are essential oils that are supposed to be avoided like Clary sage brings on labour or something, but a drop or two even of that wouldn't really do harm.

Thanks @PickledScrump @fearfuloffluff for the reassurance. I knew nothing about essential oils in pregnancy! I also had a candle lit for about 30 mins in my bedroom last night and just realised it has clary sage in it 😩 now I'm imagining all these new symptoms! Do you think I should speak to my midwife just to check all is OK? Or is that unnecessary

@94kj i used clary sage with number 2 & 3 and it did absolutely nothing for either. This was at full term and everyday use. I really wouldn’t worry about a small amount of anything on your skin and a candle really isnt going to do anything at all. Most essential oils are supposed to work in minutes to a couple of hours anyway, so your absolutely fine by now

Thanks @PickledScrump you've reassured me! :)
