Appointment with consultant obstetrician?

Hey, I was just wondering if anyone has had an appointment with a consultant obstetrician after speaking to their midwife about an elective c-section? I had a midwife appointment a week ago and she’s referred me to see one at my local hospital tomorrow but for some reason, the reason she referred me is a total blur so I don’t really know what to expect! TIA ☺️

You need to speak to a consultant or maybe you will see their junior doctor because you’ve requested surgery. They have to explain all the potential risks and you say yes I understand but I still want a c section. You can also ask any questions you may have.

Yeah one of the doctors will have to agree for you to go ahead with it. If they try talking you out of it, stick to your guns! It’s your birth, you can choose to give birth however you want😊

That happened to me... consultant just asked my reason why and then said 'okay I'll book you in at 34 weeks to confirm a date'.

Thank you all so much for your replies, I really appreciate the information! Last week was the first time my midwife had asked what I had in mind for the birth and I wasn’t expecting her to refer me so quickly but I’m so glad she did. I’m actually really excited for this appointment tomorrow!

If you don’t mind me asking, do each of you mind sharing why you decided to go for an elective section and how you found the process itself and the recovery?

Thanks again 🥰

I decided to go for one because my first birth was awful- DS got stuck, rushed to theatre, forceps, massive PPH and 3B tear. I decided that a section would be better for me this time because I was worried about the same thing happening again and having problems after birth. Consultant was happy with my reasonings and said it made sense.
