Hi all! I already have 2 beautiful girls (10 & 15). I split with my husband (their dad) 2 years ago after he cheated on me. I started dating my now boyfriend (46) in February and we have an amazing relationship. He is a widower with 2 girls (20 & 22). I was going to say we’ve been taking things slow (in terms of coming together as a family) but, well I’ve just found out I’m pregnant! So that’s not very slow I guess lol. Very early stages, 5 weeks and I’m petrified.
We never really had the baby talk, I had an ovarian cyst about 8 years ago and was told it was very unlikely I’d become pregnant. I know, very unlikely isn’t never, but here I am.
I haven’t told him yet because I’m scared. Not of him, but my age, lifestyle recently hasn’t been amazing - no drugs but enjoyed a few cocktails at the weekends! And my eating isn’t the healthiest either.
I was wondering if there are any older ladies out there going through pregnancy who can offer any advice or support on being an older mum!
Thanks!

Congratulations!! Don't worry about the cocktails, many mums don't find out until weeks/month into the pregnancy. As long as you stop now, I'm sure the baby will be fine. xx
Not an older mum, but my mum had me at 39 and she is a fantastic mother.

Thanks so much for your kind words and encouragement, I really appreciate it! No
more drinking for me, am not usually a big drinker, but Christmas parties started early this year! And that’s great to hear about your mother, wonderful to read!

Hi @He2508,

Congratulations! Due to life circumstances I didn't get pregnant with my first child until I was 40, and had her when I was 41. No one really batted an eyelid and apart from being consultant led because of my age, age didn't cause me any problems and I had a smooth and healthy pregnancy. My daughter is 21 months now and I'm now 43, and currently 32 weeks pregnant with my second. Again, it's been a smooth, uneventful pregnancy. I'm more tired this time round but I put that down to looking after a toddler this time round.

All the best for your pregnancy.

XxX

Congratulations 🎉 I was 41 when I became pregnant with our only DC. It was quite a shock and I had been on a trip to Munich just before I realised I was pregnant that included lots of alcohol 🥴! Loads of women have drunk, eaten foods they wouldn't had they known they were pregnant and much worse, so don't worry too much!

I was almost 42 when our DS was born nearly 22 years ago and he has been an absolute joy. Hope all goes well with your pregnancy.
