Hi lovelies.

Sorry for the long post. If you read it all thankyou for making it to the end.

Im currently 17+2 days pregnant with twins.

this morning when I woke up, I had I’d say minor back pain with a belly ache type feeling at the front of my stomach alongside cramping feelings in the top of my thighs. As the day has progressed the back pain has got worse that I’m now in tears on all fours rocking back and forth trying to ease the pain. I’ve also had diarrhoea after two days of being constipated (sorry for tmi)

I haven’t really been able to get any of my daily activities done (cleaning and looking after my other children, without the help of my partner.) I keep drifting in and out of sleep when sitting down and also I’ve headache for the past two/three days that not even pain relief has touched.

I suppose the reason for this post is to see if this is normal in a twin pregnancy? Or if I’m maybe just ill? Should probably mention I’ve always had spd/ pgp during all three of my singleton pregnancies, so I don’t know if I’m just developing that again however the pain feels completely different to the pain I’m used to in pregnancy.

any help would be appreciated!!

Could that be early signs of labour?

cestlavielife · 04/11/2023 23:37

Call your midwife
Go to a and e and get checked
At least call 111

Best to get checked out and it is nothing

Contact hospital with symptoms like that.

I hope you're okay and have been checked over. Any sustained, severe pain that presents so suddenly is reason to seek medical advice and trust your gut when you know this feels different to the aches and pains you have experienced before.

Sealover123 · 05/11/2023 08:03

How are you feeling this morning? Did you seek medical assistance? Hope all is OK 💐

RubySunset82 · 05/11/2023 08:06

That sounds possibly early labour pains or even blood pressure related. I hope you’ve gone to A&E OP.

Thankyou everyone! I ended up ringing the mcu and was seen, cervix was closed so said I’m not in labour, did a scan as I’m too early to go on the monitor yet, and babies are happy in there! Blood pressure was fine too! They put it down to babies/uterus pressing on a nerve in my back and told me to mention it at my midwife appointment next week so she can keep a closer eye on me!

Hi OP ,
That's good news that everything checked out fine and I hope that they were able to help with the pain .

You are doing a brillant job of growing two babies . As someone who has been through a twin pregnancy and a singleton pregnancy , the twin pregnancy was classified as higher risk simply because there are two in there .

I had an issue with one twin's movements slowing down and after checking the advice - cold drink etc I contacted the MCU and was seen for tests etc .

All fine and it was great to get reassured that everything was ok .

If something doesn't feel right you should always contact your MCU and they can give you advice .

I hope that you have a boring and uneventful rest of your pregnancy . Take care Flowers

@imfae thankyou so much, what a lovely thing to say! It’s honestly so scary growing two instead of just the usual one baby.

I was just wondering at what point did your twins movements become more regular and frequent? I saw them yesterday so know they are both doing okay but honestly most days I have no idea how they are doing as I’m only just starting to feel very small flutters whereas with my singleton pregnancies I was regularly feeling all three of my girls move by now. I have such bad health and pregnancy anxiety as it is, and I’m getting worried that I’m not yet feeling much, if anything I thought I’d be feeling a lot more than what I did with my singleton pregnancies!

Again, thankyou so much and I really hope it is as uneventful as it can be being high risk lol! You take care too✨
