Ok I’m getting myself in a state.
28 weeks and the heartburn is awful all afternoon/evening. I’ve been sucking on polo mints which helps but I eat quite a lot (maybe 10 a day) which is probably bad in itself …

today I couldn’t get polos and picked up extra mints and didn’t read the label properly - they are sugar free and I’ve polished off at least 12 over the day. Now I have the inevitable runs 😱

Im now stressing this is bad for my baby. He is moving fine . What an idiot I am 😞

hey ,
baby will be ok !! the laxative effect in sugar alternatives wouldn't be as strong as laxatives you can buy over the counter. if your worried i would call triage to put your mind at ease, just remember to drink plenty of water as you could get dehydrated easily.
hope you feel better soon

we can but not too much whether your pregnant or not because having too much artificial sweeteners can cause laxative effects

Thanks @pregnantmom101 x I know I’m probably being a bit irrational but pregnancy does that to you doesn’t it 🤣

it’s not that you can’t have it when pregnant @Walnuthhwip and I’ve had many a Diet Coke etc! But I was more worried as I’d popped almost a whole packet without realising and now it’s given me the laxative effects! So was worrying that might not be good for baby.

I had the runs for the first 14 weeks with my DD (now 8 and fine!). Was apparently my body's reaction to the extra oestrogen as I didn't have it with DS.

@Number3pending2024 believe me being irrational during pregnancy is so normal 😂 hahaha I remember I posted something on here a while back about being afraid of something happening to baby tbh so much has happened since I can’t remember what I was worried about but I got absolutely attacked in the replies saying I need to seek mental help because I was being so irrational 😂 it’s funny how pregnant brains work we worry over silly little things that don’t seem silly at the time 😂❤️

Oh you poor thing - it'll be fine, just unpleasant.

Thank goodness it was the runs not the wind. I once accidentally ate half a pack of sugar free biscuits (I didn't realise they were sugar free), and it was so painful, I was under intense internal pressure - I basically spent the evening in downward dog farting every couple of minutes. NEVER AGAIN.

Thank you for all your replies it makes me feel better :)
I have certainly learnt my lesson!!! Baby is kicking around nicely thankfully 😅

probably wondering what on earth is going on in there!
