What to wear, first trimester

Just wondering what other peoples solutions have been in the first trimester. I’m super bloated and I think my boobs have gone up about 6 sizes already,
my usual tighter clothing does not fit, neither do my bras, and between trying to find something that fits and covers my bloat, I’m left with baggy jeans / sweat pants and baggy jumpers. I just feel a bit scruffy so I’m feeling a bit down about it, but I don’t have lots of spare money to buy new clothes, especially when anything I buy won’t fit soon surely? I don’t even have a proper bump yet.
I could still just about squeeze into some things but I just feel so uncomfortable and sick already that that makes me feel worse too.
I don’t mean to complain, I’m so grateful to be pregnant, but would just love some practical solutions for clothing. Thank you!

I opted to buy a few nice quality knit midi dresses. This is because they'll stretch with bump and then still be wearable post baby :)

I wore my normal trousers but with a bump band like this https://www.jojomamanbebe.co.uk/style/ST281550/C69544?gadsource=1&gclid=CjwKCAjwkY2qBhBDEiwAoQXK5fuZszqAeaNfMCBET5GZ7S9XMMHD9U0v3m8HJUnXKpRErDZhw6HryxoCYqUQAvDD_BwE&gclsrc=aw.ds#C69544
And used this elastic band trick for the button (pic)

I got some elasticated trousers, and luckily I wear a lot of pinafore/dungaree dresses anyway and those were comfy. i was the same, so bloated from day 1!

Watching with interest as I am at 14 weeks and struggling!

Just get maternity trousers/jeans secondhand.

bogoblin · 02/11/2023 16:49

You could always get some maternity bits now - I wore my maternity leggings in between children they were so comfortable! They're really putting in the overtime 😂

Springingintosummer · 02/11/2023 17:33

I would think about what maternity clothes I would buy for later on and buy some now.
I bought two maternity dresses for work that were ok at week 16.

I did not buy enough clothes for weeks 12-24 size, and forgot about when I had the baby I would not stay big nor immediately shrink and needed comfy clothes that fitted going down.

SarahB88 · 02/11/2023 18:10

Oversized tops and leggings have been my go to. I was bloated straight away so there’s no way anything other than leggings or joggers have been comfy!

I bought some maternity leggings but still a bit too small for them so considering just getting some cheap leggings from primark in a bigger size to see me through a few weeks.

I’m having a big problem getting knickers to be comfy at the moment haha

KatieJ345 · 02/11/2023 19:30

Wearing leggings and oversized jumpers for a more casual look. Also got some maternity tights at 15 weeks to wear with knit dresser for work.

Walnuthhwip · 02/11/2023 19:32

I’m not even 12 weeks, it feels v preemptive and I feel a bit silly buying maternity stuff that will manage a 9 month belly when I’m just bloated! Also no one knows yet and won’t that make it obvious?
i like idea of stretchy or adaptive stuff for now, I didn’t know you could get those bands
thanks for the good ideas!

I think I went into maternity clothes at eight or nine weeks, much better to be comfy whether it's bloating or an actual bump.

annlee3817 · 04/11/2023 03:53

I wore the oversized style dresses with tights and boots, I also did the elastic bands and jeans trick with a longer t-shirt from Primark, long cardigan and a nice scarf

justanotherlaura · 04/11/2023 08:16

I was in maternity jeans at 9 weeks, super comfy with the big elastic band bit at the top and with a loose top no one knows you're not just wearing normal jeans
