Best gift card for new mum?

ruthc88 · 01/11/2023 18:56

It's my friends baby shower and I have no idea what gift to get because I have no idea what she already has and there is no gift list to choose from.

As a result I've crocheted a lovey for the baby and want to get a gift card - that way she has something personal from me that I've put time and effort into, and also something practical depending on their needs.

So my question is: what gift card do I get??? Mothercare isn't a thing anymore is it??

John Lewis is a pretty safe bet- I love treating myself to their baby clothes. Mamas and Papas is also a lovely treat shop for new mums.

I got an uber eats voucher, was super chuffed with it! Or amazon. My workmates also made ME a care package, dry shampoo, hair mask, moisturiser, face mask, snacks, bath stuff. Things that are specifically for mum not anyone else

Food - we were gifted pasta evangelists and it was so nice to have a couple of, what felt like 'restauranty' meals in those early days

LavenderSweetPea · 01/11/2023 20:32

I'd like a 'cook' voucher - they do new parent bundles of quick meals. Or agree with PP that John Lewis always goes down well

Purplerain1144 · 01/11/2023 20:36

Just eat/uber eats/deliveroo. They will have enough onesies and muslins!

PickledScrump · 01/11/2023 20:57

I thought about doing this too!

Cool voucher.
Or just buy meals to put in her freezer- I appreciated this soooo much.

gettingolderbutcooler · 02/11/2023 07:38

Cook
🤣

pumpykins · 02/11/2023 07:39

Boots, cook

Food subscription gift like simply cook or
Hello fresh

Em4815 · 02/11/2023 07:40

Yes a Cook voucher was the best one we got!

HavingAnOffDAy · 02/11/2023 07:40

M&S

It can be spent on your friend, the baby, or some nice food after baby is here.

Moonlightsonatas · 02/11/2023 07:42

Cook was such an amazing treat, I don’t think I would have been able to use any kind of pampering voucher.

Chocbuttonsandredwine · 02/11/2023 07:42

Boots JL or Amazon… that way she can treat herself if she wants to.

disagree with cook etc unless you know she already uses/is interested as it’s something that she will have to set up/order/do….

also found spa/massage vouchers annoying as I didn’t have the time so they went to waste

Lottie917 · 02/11/2023 14:19

John Lewis is a safe bet but if you wanted to get something more personal for your friend specifically, a voucher for somewhere you know that she shops for her own clothes may come in handy. I really appreciated having a couple of high street vouchers to buy some clothes to fit my postpartum body x

Oh dear.. Mine comes with a babysitter promise and 12 month validity.

Agree with the people saying Uber eats/deliveroo - very much appreciated in those early post-partum days! Or costa because it’s nice to treat yourself to a posh coffee whilst having a change of scenery with baby!

Thanks for your replies everyone - I found a card that you can use in supermarkets but also uber eats and I think hello fresh or something like that. Combination of the above, and it went down very well (along with my crochet bunny lovey).
Thanks all!
