7w4d scan but measuring only 6w

Hi,

Had a transvaginal scan today and they saw a heartbeat which was lovely. But it’s only measuring 5.9mm CRL, which they say is where it should be at 6w, and heartbeat was faint (what they’d expect to see at 6w).
I had a scan 10days ago too and they couldn’t see a heartbeat and it was only 4.3mm.

Is this growth slow? (Seems it! I was told they would double each week). The doctors didn’t seem too worried and said I should be “cautiously optimistic”… but not sure what to make of that!!

Any experience/ knowledge really welcomed as it’s now just a case of waiting another 6 weeks until the dating scan…

I had a scan at 7+2 and they measured the baby at 6+2. Baby had a strong heartbeat but measured 6.4mm. They said they weren’t worried as it’s difficult to measure this early and it might catch up by the time the dating scan comes around. I’ve got another scan tomorrow at 9+3 to see what the growth is, so keeping my fingers crossed!

Do you have another scan booked to check or to at least put your mind at rest?

Not for another 6 weeks… my scans so far have been at EPAU, are yours private? I’m considering that….

I had a scan at what I thought was 8 weeks and turned out to be 6 weeks exactly, I’m sure of my dates too. CRL was 3.2mm, obviously I was very concerned but they aren’t worried in the slightest, not sure what to think but hopefully all works out for you x

thanks @LW678 - how are you getting on now? Doctors today also didn’t seem to be worried, but the EPAU specialist was off ill do I got a general gynae…. This waiting is hard isn’t it!

I only had the scan on Saturday but they’ve told me not to come back as there are no issues and it’s developing?!! I’ve read so many things on here and it sounds as if it’s 50/50

I was scanned at 7+0 and measured at 4-5 weeks, they rescanned me 2 weeks later and baby measured at 7 weeks with a heartbeat visible

at my 12 week scan they’d caught up by 6 days and have followed those dates ever since even though I’m fairly certain of when I ovulated

@5964emily I had a scan at 7 weeks +5 but baby only measured 6 weeks +3! Sonographer said he thinks i ovulated late. Saw the heartbeat and it was perfect. I then went for my 12 week scan at 11 weeks +4 and baby was measuring a day ahead at 11 weeks +5! try not to worry too much. xx
