Newly pregnant - ‘My Pregnancy Notes’

Hi everyone, has anyone recently registered their pregnancy with my pregnancy notes? (UK, north west area) I rang my GP this morning and they directed me to register with my local hospital first and await to be referred back to them.

I have registered online with my pregnancy notes instead of ringing up but I’m not sure if I’m meant to do anything else? Or if I’m best ringing up instead. I’ve heard I’ll just have to “wait a few weeks”, is this correct? Has anyone else had similar experience and can give an estimate of how long I’ll be waiting? I feel so anxious ! Thanks ☺️

sorry, it’s my first pregnancy so not sure what the process is!!

Hiya - congrats!

My trust (w.yorks) uses my pregnancy notes too - you just register using the site and then the referral will be sent to your GP. You don't have to do anything else - just wait for the midwife team to get in touch. I can't remember how long it took but I think once it was a week or so and the latest time (June? I can't remember 😂) it wasn't long at all. They'll either be in touch via phone or email, I've had both.

You just have to sit tight now!

My trust also uses my pregnancy notes. Fill in the referral and wait for someone to get in touch. It took a few weeks for mine but I did self refer quite early!! I was contacted and seen by my community midwife by 9 weeks 😊

I signed up after seeing something online, I’d told myself I’d ring GP next week after being really sure (I’m only very early) however within 3 days of creating the pregnancy notes account I had a text from GP midwife with an appt mid Nov so it shouldn’t be too long!

@FirstT1meMum Thank you it seems I have already received an appointment which is great, however, it’s 5 weeks from now! (4 Dec) That would take me into my 10th week 😫

I was hoping I would have had my first scan prior to Christmas so I could tell family on Christmas Day, not very hopeful of that now!

I dont think they give you the dating scan til 11+2 at the earliest anyway, so it doesn't matter when your booking appointment is? You could book a private scan if you wanted.

yes normal in my area (southeast), you self refer and they contact you around 8 weeks for your booking appointment. GP not involved at all. A booking appointment around 10 weeks seems normal. You can tell family whenever you want! Honestly, having had a MC this year, I'm very pro telling early. And 12 weeks isn't some magic point where it's guaranteed to be OK.
