Hello,
please can anyone help I’m loosing the plot. So on Thursday a day before my period was due I took a PT as my boobs were sore. It came up faint positive, did a clear blue it said 1-2 weeks. I went to the doctors the next day and they said because of my epilepsy to go up to hospital and see if I can get a scan. So I went for the scan and they couldn’t see anything so said it was unknown location of pregnancy my HCG levels were 760 and they have doubled in the last 48 hours. I still feel pregnant, but I’ve got so much doubt now and have to wait a week for a scan has this happened to anyone else and was it a positive outcome? 🥺 how common is it for them to use that term if it’s just too early to see on the scan?

Hmm. I don't think they'd generally be able to see anything at all so early, so it's strange they'd suggest that it was a PoUL.

Didn't they say that it may just be far too early for anything to be seen?

I don't know how you can have a pregnancy of a known location at 4 weeks. What's the point of even scanning you that early. It's the size of a grain of rice you're never gonna find it. Usually they won't scan you before 6-7 weeks.

Honestly don't panic. And refer yourself to the local midwife rather than the gp!!

I think that's normal. It is very hard to find anything at 3-4 weeks pregnant. I'd try not to worry as your levels are rising which is good news.

At my 12 weeks scan at 11.1weeks the hospital couldn't find the baby and had me walking up and down the corridor before they found it. Shes now 2. I was a size 12-14 so maybe it was my weight.

As far as I’m aware the nhs won’t scan until 6 weeks because there’s a chance they won’t see anything before that and wouldn’t want to worry you. Did they relaise how early you are?

@assignedferretatbirth @Bells3032 @Danielle9891 @Hiddenvoice I know I’ve never even heard of it. I originally went to the doctors with a cough and found out i have a chest infection and I had said my neck was hurting and when I mentioned the positive test she said straight away about ectopic because of my sore neck and I said could it not just be from me coughing and she said I want to send you up, but I told her i tested a day before my due date so she knew how early I was, I just wish I never went for the scan cause now I’m worried sick 😞 that’s reassuring though that they don’t usually see anything until later, thank you all so much for replying xxx

I had a scan at 5 1/2 - 6 weeks and they couldn’t see anything but when I returned two weeks later baby had made an appearance. It sounds like it’s far too early and I was told that you shouldn’t expect to see anything until about 7 weeks. I wished too at the time I hadn’t been for a scan because the anxiety for 2 weeks was awful. Easier said than done but try and keep yourself occupied. Wishing you all the best and hoping for a positive outcome - keep us updated x

I had an ectopic last year. I was almost a week late before I got a very faint positive with a FRER test.

With my subsequent pregnancies they offered me a first scan around 5+4 to see if they could locate the gestational sac.

At both 5 week scans I was warned there was a very real chance nothing would be visible yet. So, I think at 4 weeks your scan was too early. Please try and not worry that nothing was visible so early on - it was very unlikely they would see anything unless you were actually a few weeks further on than you thought.

Are they planning to scan you again in a week or two when they're more likely to be able to see something?

Update… I had my scan and there was a sac and embryo 🥰 thank goodness! The scan was too early last time… so I’m going back in two weeks for another check then they’re booking my 12 week scan. Thanks so much everyone xx
