TWINS!!

Just found out today I'm pregnant with twins. I'm 7 weeks, 1 day pregnant. Can't believe it! We were going to wait until 12 weeks to tell our families but it's now even harder to keep a secret!

Any guesses if they are fraternal or identical? Sonographer said I'd have to wait till next scan to find out more details. I hope they both develop well!

Hi guys! Sorry to jump on the post, however noticed lots of twin mamas on this post and in need of opinions! Had a scan recently, 3rd baby, measuring 7w exactly. Saw heartbeat and all is well. But, I have been extremely worse off morning sickness wise during this pregnancy then my previous two (both girls), and a few close friends have suggested it could be due to twins! Anyway, looking through a video generated during the scan, it looks as though there are two sacks? I didn’t notice it whilst having the scan or I’d have asked my sonographer. Does anyone know what I’m looking at? Is it twins or something else? Thanks!

Congratulations!! My twins have just turned 18! It really is the most special gift to have twins - a unique experience. The bond my two still have is incredible.

I’m an identical twin, unfortunately not sure what we looked like on scan at that point but they do look rather close for space, especially when there seems to be enough for them to be apart.
Identical twins do oddly run in our family, though they say it’s not inherited, my midwife was in shock at how many run through my side and said “clearly the ability of eggs splitting is something your family carries, I’m surprised you’re not having twins” 😂
My mother has a set of identical twin brothers and a set of identical twin sisters and then had twins herself. They run further back than that also. We have 5 sets of identicals within 3 generations

Yes! This is so weird, identical twins are the "fluke of nature" ones, and the two separate egg ones are the hereditary ones. Yet you have 5 sets like that.

My friend has two sets of identicals. And she is a twin.

I have no history of twins anywhere in my family, and I've got the hereditary two egg ones! Who are nearly 4 now.

You'd think I'd know the terminology better wouldn't you, I paid no attention after my scan where we found out it was twins, and they do all the dcda mcma stuff, because DH and I were too busy going "Jesus Christ there's two of them" at the midwife

Hi everyone, thank you for all your comments! We had the 12 week scan this week and the little babbas are doing well and confirmed identical (MCDA). Very excited! 💓

That's so exciting! Congratulations and I hope that you have a smooth pregnancy and all goes well. Will you be finding out the sex of the babies or having a surprise?

mine are nearly 5 months and getting right little chatter boxes (well in their own little way lol) they are my world and it’s nice to know that they will always have each other.

@kiwiandcherries @Twimum23 We originally wanted a surprise, but we think since we'll be having fortnightly scans soon we may end up finding out anyway accidentally. Won't we see a giveaway at some point, like a little willy or lack thereof?
As they're identical and same sex, it might be good to know so we can only focus on agreeing on boy or girl names and save half the discussions! 😄

@Sealover123 yeah I got identical twin boys we wanted to know so we could go out and start buying clothes and bits when we found out they was boys the women doing the scan said I’ll let u work out what they are lol it was really obvious they wasn’t shy about hiding anything either lol

Thank you! No history of twins in family. In fact the only factor which may have contributed is I am in my late 30s. We don't have children so really hoping these 2 grow healthily! 🙏🏻

If no twins in family, they will most probably be identical as these a a fluke of nature rather than fraternal, which are mostly passed down from mother to child
