Did your second baby arrive earlier than your first?

Hi all

i have an elective c-section booked for the eviction of my second baby at 38 weeks!

i went into spontaneous labour at 37+3 with my first (which ended in an emergency c-section 16 hours later 🙃)

im slightly nervous as I’ve heard second (and subsequent) babies tend to come earlier than the first - what is everyone’s experience with this?

1st baby born at 40+3 , 13 years later 2nd baby born at 40+2! X

Yes by a week. And third a week earlier than that.

1st 7 weeks prem. 2nd due date

My 2nd came 9 days later

1st was on his due date (labour started 39+4), second at 38+1. Fingers crossed yours stays put until your section!

My first two were born at 41+3 with 7 years between. (2nd was induced after reduced movements and slowing contractions)

My 3rd was born 2 years after my 2nd at 40+5.

I put the age gaps as I'm not sure if that makes a difference, my 2nd birth was worse than my 1st which doesn't seem to be usual either. My 3rd was very easy maybe because it hadn't been that long since the last.

first 40+1
second 40+2
third is looking to be later as currently past due date and no signs.

They say second births are quicker, never heard anything about them being earlier.

Both exactly the same at 40+4. Third one was 40+1

Ah that’s reassuring, a real mixed bag! Hopefully baby number two holds on until her birthday appointment
