Sweeps, inductions and closed cervix

Seen the midwife today who tried to do a sweep (as did the student) but it was unsuccessful due to my cervix being closed. I had a feeling it was if im honest as im showing no signs of going into labour ...

Im 40+3 today and I've been booked in for an induction at 40+11 (although could be later as im not a priority due to low risk atm and they may be busy)

Has anyone been in this position and then went into labour naturally? I didn't really want an induction but also understand that baby has to come at some point too.

Or 41+4. MW was referring to it as term+11 and I didn't realise how odd 40+11 looked til I read what I'd wrote 😂

I was in the same position, I had a sweep just after 40 weeks and she was showing no interest in coming out and my cervix was still shut tight. Induction booked for 40+12 and even by then she still wasn't coming out, just to comfy. I was induced and at 10am and she was born at 2am, once the induction kicked in it was luckily quite quick. My niece and nephew came before the booked induction date though. If you're worried about induction, mine was honestly ok. At almost 42 weeks I would have done anything to get her out haha

Yup, exam at 40+4 where sweep wasn't possible due to closed cervix, but went into spontaneous labour 3 days later. Best of luck!!

@Spin4Gin I'm not so much worried as disheartened. I've been 2/5 or 3/5 engaged for my last few apps and today 4/5 feel like I'm going backwards 🤦🏼‍♀️

I knew it would be closed as I'm showing no signs of labour. But this fills me with hope, I don't particularly want induced. Just feeling a bit disheartened. They're going to try a sweep again on Sunday 🤞🏼
