Hey, Tmi toppic on the way haha
Just looking for some experiences. Had my 2nd baby 14 weeks ago and my period has happened twice so far but its been really long (10 days or so) plus spotting a couple of days before. They are also quite heavy.

Smear tests and everything up to date less than a year ago so no worries there.

Did this happen to anyone else?
It didn't happen after my 1st baby, they took almost a year to come back and were quite "normal" but this time it's so different.

Thanks

I had my first period about 8 weeks post section - I remember being annoyed that I’d barely finished the post partum bleeding and then it showed up 😄 I breast fed but only for the first 5 weeks.

My first few periods weren’t long but they were very heavy - like the first few days post partum level of heavy (I was thankful I still had a pack maternity pads leftover!) - and then they settled and became like my periods were pre pregnancy. I think they are just a bit all over the place for a while - but it might be worth speaking to your GP if you’re worried.

Hi @KateC1x1

I had my baby 19 weeks ago via emergency c-section. I had postpartum bleeding for around 5-6 weeks afterwards. Unfortunately I was unable to breast feed so got my first period at 7 weeks postpartum and that period lasted for 11 days, although it was lighter than what my periods were. I’ve had a further two periods since and they are back down to 5/6 days in length and heavier. Second period I’ll be honest was ridiculously heavy that I was soaking through everything thing very quickly. I was genuinely getting concerned something was wrong but it did eventually slow down and stop. Third period seemed a lot more normal in flow. I think mine are starting to settle themselves down, hopefully yours will do the same. Hope this is a bit helpful x

Are you breast feeding? That can make a difference. But each birth is different. With my first I didn't have a period until 8 months when I stopped feeding, with my second it was 8 weeks and she was exclusively breastfed. I have no idea with my 3rd, genuinely can't remember! Probably somewhere between the other 2!

My point being it's not abnormal but do speak to midwife if you see anything unusual (large clots etc) or are worried.
