Painful piles

Please help! I’ve developed piles so painful I can barely walk / sleep. I’ve got germaloid cream but it doesn’t seem to be doing anything. Still have 8 weeks until due date so really can’t carry on like this 😣

I had them a few weeks ago. Few baths in Epsom salts helped them go

Paracetamol, and sleeping/sitting with a cushion wedged under you so you are slightly slanted to one side. They should calm down in a week or so. Think mine took almost 2 weeks to shrink with the above interventions! So so painful but they will shrink!

I also have them. Germoloid not helping. Will try Epsom salt bath

Thank you! This gives me hope.

Something very cold on them helps m. Even a very cold flannel will help a little and I found Sudocreme helped when I didn’t haven’t anything else. If you go to GP there’s another topical gel called Scheriproct, I was given it when BF, so don’t know whether you can use it while pregnant but would be worth asking as it was so effective. Good luck, it’s truly hell and I feel for you x

There was a thread on this I think last year 'gold standard haemorrhoid cures' - have a search for it as there were some great suggestions on there. My advice - get a piles cushion now, put ice on it to reduce swelling, and try prep H and anusol.

You have my every sympathy!

If over the counter stuff isn't working go to your drs they will give you some hard-core ointment

chillipod · 22/10/2023 19:46

Oh god I had this in late pregnancy too it was horrific. I sat on ice packs a lot, it helped 😂

Noleafclover1 · 22/10/2023 19:50

Make sure whatever cream/ointment you are using is a preparation that contains steroids (you can get them over the counter). It was the only thing that worked for me. Ice packs also helped. I totally empathise OP - it's hell!!

I think the suppositories are better, I also used cotton wool pads soaked in witch hazel, and bicarbonate of soda/Epsom salts baths
