Baby bouncer or swing

Hi, currently looking at baby bouncers and swings :) What do people recommend? I'd originally had my eye on the Maxi-Cosi Cassia swing. I'm now looking at the BabyBjorn bouncers instead.

First time mum who is overwhelmed by the choices and not wanting to make the wrong decision 😂

I can't compare as we only had the baby Bjorn bouncer, but I can tell you it was an absolute godsend! My dd loved it and happily sat it in it while I showered/cooked/did things to make me feel human

I had a bouncer for both of mine and never regretted not having a swing. As above, I couldn't have been without it for my two, they sat in it while I also showered/cooked/got dressed/sorted bits out. What I would say is that particular bouncer is expensive compared to others that I would ask yourself what it is about it that justifies spending that extra money (there’s no judgement here from me because I have also bought more expensive baby items in the past that I’m really pleased with and so as long as you are happy with it and can afford it, that’s what matters). I just wish I had done that with some of the items I purchased first time round.

We had a Chicco Hoopla bouncer and it was a godsend!!

I had a chicco swing and it was brilliant, especially when I wanted to shower, clean etc. He loved swinging away in it and glad I had it

We used the mamaroo and it was fab. My baby grew out of it by 6 months, and now we use the fisher price infant to toddler seat. It fits up to age two!

We had a secondhand BabyBjorn, used it for both babies and then sold it on for pretty much what we paid for it. I think there are knock-off versions about as well. It was great, both babies liked it, very easy to move from room to room, very easy to pull the cover off and chuck in the washing machine (important with refluxy DD2!), folded flat to tuck out of the way or put in the car/take on the train, even chuck under the buggy walking to a friend's house. High weight limit also, in case your baby ends up loving it until a slightly older age or is high centile.

Practically, the portability and washability made a big difference.

It doesn't really matter which one you get. See what's available at nearly new sales or on Facebook marketplace or ask around friends and family.

I loved the babybjorn, weight seize you can use up until 2 years as well. We used it all the time the first 18 months as Ds used as baby bouncer, then you reverse fabric as toddler seat and he would sit in to drink milk or look at books.

My biggest requirement is that a bouncer folds for storage. They are always in the way otherwise when baby isn’t in it. Ours lived under the sofa

Psmama22 · 19/10/2023 15:31

I had a knock off of the babybjorn the first time round and found it very rigid so I’ve splurged on the babybjorn 3 in 1 one this time around and also got the dupe of the maxi cosi swing - the baby elegance allta. It appealed to me as it can be plugged in or battery powered as I had a swing on DD that ate batteries! I also have the Tripp Trapp which I highly recommend and our DD loved chilling in the newborn attachment. I’m all for having as many places to plonk them down that they’re comfy and safe as possible

Hiddenvoice · 19/10/2023 17:02

i got my little one a bouncer and it’s been great. It’s pretty large though so annoying to store but she’s now 18 months and still fits in it which is handy for when I want her to stay out for 5 mins.
I also had a little swing for when she was a newborn and could just rest in it. I didn’t use it very much but everyone’s said how handy they are for a second baby.

Danikm151 · 19/10/2023 17:06

Seriously just get something off marketplace.
baby may not like a swing- mine liked it for 5 mins max.
we had a joie bouncer that vibrated- that was great and I sold it on marketplace after we were done.
