3rd baby, first anterior placenta

And I hate it !! It's so different feeling barely anything... I've been so calm this pregnancy compared to my last, but the last couple of days I'm worrying a little now to the point I may see if the midwife will listen in tomorrow...

In 23 weeks on Saturday. I have been feeling movements on and off, but nothing like my previous pregnancies. The last two days the movements have been very minimal, like once or twice in the day.

Is this normal to still have really inconsistent movements at this stage with an anterior placenta?

Totally normal for me. Lots of on and off movements so some days would feel loads and others less so.

It probably took until 26/27 weeks for me to feel movements consistently everyday.

Both of mine were anterior placenta and yes, 28/29 weeks for regular, consistent kicks was about right for me too. Once the little legs got longer, there was a nice little spot near the top of the bump that got very strong kicks, and I loved them

Thank you it's good to hear that it's normal but it's so strange, 1-2 movements a day just isn't reassuring me ! Some days I feel a lot more, some days barely anything

Definitely ask your midwife for reassurance, if your other pregnancies felt different it's totally reasonable to want to be sure. I knew what to expect on my second so never really fretted about movement, but this is a brand new experience for you so get whatever reassurance you can

Twice I had an anterior placenta and with one I felt hardly any movements the whole pregnancy and when I did it was when the baby was bigger and rolling completely over. It was stressful. The second one I could feel movements at the side but that was it and they were not strong or regular.

halfshutknife · 18/10/2023 21:54

I had an anterior place at with my second. Felt them much later on but maybe 23 weeks but had much bigger much more consistent movements than with my 3rd. Hopefully things improve for you. So hard not to compare x

Oh my goodness I'm not making sense 🤦🏼‍♀️ first baby felt movement from 17 weeks but very inconsistent. Second with anterior placenta felt from 23 weeks but big and consistent movements. No third baby!

I had a similar experience OP and went to hospital at about your stage of pregnancy because I was worried about what I thought were reduced movements. They did a scan and could see loads of movements that I couldn't even feel at that time. In a few weeks you should be able to feel regular movements. The key is to learn what's normal for you to feel for this baby.

crankit · 18/10/2023 22:03

I don't think I've felt one movement since about lunchtime, so hard not to compare. I knew I had an anterior placenta this time because the little movements I had felt before my 20 week scan felt, far away ? Small I guess. I also didn't get any flutters this time

I may have just felt the smallest ever movement. Bloody hell, this is going to be a long pregnancy lol

I'm 21 weeks with my third baby, second anterior placenta. It's so frustrating but I can barely feel a thing. In the 20 week scan it looked like she was having a total rave in there and I couldn't feel any of it.

I'm going through exactly the same thing at the minute! I'm 27+2 and only really started to feel proper movements the last couple of weeks. I have had my panicky days where movements have been very quiet, including this morning but he has definitely moved more in the last hour!

But it is so worrying and I understand completely how you feel!

This is my 2nd pregnancy (1st was a miscarriage) and I think I am overanalyzing every little thing.

Hopefully it's going to get less stressful 🤞

Forgot to say I have an anterior placenta too
