Separate vitamins or pregnancy multivitamin?

Hi all,

I've just found out I'm pregnant after a MMC, excited but also nervous that I might have done something wrong first time around. I currently take quite a few vitamins:

Magnesium glycinate - 750mg (added b6)
Apple cider vinegar - 600mg
Folic acid - 400mcg
Vit d - 4000iu
B12 - 1500mcg

I've looked them all up individually and all seem okay, but not sure whether to stick with what I'm already on or stop them all and go onto a pregnancy multivitamin

Any advice appreciated!! ❤️

I took folic acid alone when trying to conceive and then when I found out I was pregnant I started taking a multivitamin (the midwife has confirmed this is suitable). You’ll probably find the pregnancy multivitamins will include a lot of the vitamins you already take x

As long as you are taking folic acid and vitamin D the others are optional. I’ve always taken a pregnancy multivitamin as they can help if you have food aversions, sickness, low iron, tiredness etc.

I’m sorry about your MMC. It won’t have been caused by anything that you did or didn’t do Flowers

As long as you have checked safe dosages then there’s no reason why you can’t finish the packets of your existing supplements. If you experience sickness or nausea you may find that the decision is made for you based on what you can stomach! As a PP said folic acid to 12 weeks and vitamin D are the essential ones and the others are a bonus. Anecdotally Pregnacare makes some people feel very sick.

I took pregnacare higher dosage of vit d as I was pregnant with twins and folic acid till 12 wks and then the sonograph said I could stop taking it as babies was growing really well

Thanks everyone, I'm going to re check all my doses and carry on with what I'm already on I think, I hear pregancare can make you nauseous so trying to avoid!
