Irregular baby movements at 19 weeks?

Hi all, it seems every day brings a new challenge in pregnancy, doesn't it?
So, to sum it up briefly, I've got an anterior placenta so everyone got me convinced that I wouldn't feel baby for weeks on end, however I did start feeling some flutters from 18 weeks (last week) but very gentle ones and I wasn't always convinced it was her.

Then yesterday afternoon I was watching TV on the sofa I properly felt a somersault in my tummy, so much so that I gasped and startled my husband who was sitting next to me. I felt a few more movements throughout the afternoon and evening and then nothing. I think I felt a little flutters again this morning, but they were again very hard to define but nothing more since.

Is it normal for movements to be so inconsistent at this time, especially considered the AP? I tried calling MWs and Tommy's helpline but no one is picking up 😫 TIA!

Yes, you don’t feel consistent movement at this stage.

Whataretheodds · 16/10/2023 15:40

Yes - I'm 24 weeks and was told I didn't need to expect a pattern yet

Cegbee · 16/10/2023 15:55

Yes very normal at 19 weeks especially with an anterior placenta. My baby was turning 180 every couple of days at this stage, you probably felt a flip!

Gloopyhoop · 16/10/2023 16:32

Yep all normal! I have an anterior placenta and first felt something at 18 weeks, even went in for reduced movements at 24 weeks and they told me they weren't really concerned until I hit 28. She still has some time to get into that normal pattern ☺️

Hi all, thank you for your replies.
I managed to get in touch with the midwives after all and they said it's completely normal and that baby is still little so she probably tucked away in the pelvis and is kicking somewhere I can't feel her. I'd love to say that I feel reassured but honestly, I'd just like to feel her again all the time 😁
I just need to learn to be patient and try to dial down the anxiety a bit (easier said than done!).

It’s very normal not to have regular movements until 28 weeks so you have a long time yet before you’d expect it

bettynutkins · 16/10/2023 21:07

As above, all very normal.

Around weeks 18/19 I felt nothing for nearly a week with my second after feeling movements the week before!

Thank you all ladies, I'll keep all your reassuring words in mind!
