Genital herpes in pregnancy

Hello everyone,
Quick question, is it OK to not treat recurrent herpes outbreaks in pregnancy if they're mild enough (and you're not yet close to delivery)?

I'm almost 19 weeks pregnant and have had a couple more outbreaks but very mild (lasting a day/day and half). My GP prefers not to give me acyclovir (only gave me a topical cream). Can I just ride it out?

Thanks x

I don't treat mine. Only towards the end of pregnancy. X

I didn't treat mine during pregnancy. I had an outbreak towards the end if pregnancy and had a planned c-section because of the risks to baby.

Have you tried getting tea tree oil, (tesco not cheap H&B) and putting few drops on tissue and dabbing it on the sores. Best when you "feel the tingle" worth a try.

Hi @gingeristhenewblack43 thank you for your reply. to be honest mine started yesterday and it's already gone today which seems to be how outbreaks are behaving during my pregnancy but yes I'll monitor the situation better when I'm much further ahead
